I guess tonight is the night for lots of little books for children. Here is another one from Dick Bruna. This one I have in English, since I got it second hand here in the USA. It came with the inside covers already painted by a little child that was very talented, and therefore quite a lovely find. Dick Bruna is a Dutchman though. I love his drawings, they are similar to another favorite artist of mine, Keith Herring because of their vibrant colors and simple shapes.

This is a story about a hungry fish that looks for food but cannot find it. Soon though he discovers that many of the water fowl have been fed by a little girl dressed in red. The girl gets too close to the water and falls in. Before she can drown, the fish helps her out and in return for his kindness, the girl begins to feed him lots of bread.
