3 stars. I picked this up on a whim as I saw it while my dad was clearing his bookshelf, and it was an ok read. It wasn't of much use to me as I'm not the target audience, nor do I have any experience at a workplace (still a student), but it seemed like a very average read.

I don't really have anything to 'review', so leaving it brief. I would recommend it if its something that interests you.

As always, Covey nailed it

A long time fan of Covey's 7 Habits, I got this one to see how it applies to network marketing since I am now in that profession. It did not disappoint. Students of the industry would benefit from this book and from the process if internalizing the 7 habits into their life. While I was familiar with the 7 habits prior to reading this book, I came away with a new understanding of how to apply this to my business and life. This will be one I read again and again as a reminder to stay focused on these things.

This was an excellent title filled with tips about how to be most effective as network marketing professional. I found lots of great suggestions for how best to continue to help more people and add value to their lives. For me, I am most interested in continuing my own growth and development and using that knowledge to help others. It's so not all about the sale for me. I appreciated that this book reinforced that concept.

This book follows the same basic themes that all of Covey's books use. My favorite suggestion made by Covey is to evaluate your life and priorities and make sure you don't just do your "to do lists" but to do what is most important to you.

I enjoyed the book and the ideas in it. It was a bit on the dry side although truth be told I had already read and re-read the orginal 7 Habits of Highly Effective people before this. It was essentially a re-write with ideas oriented towards Network Marketing.

I did like the book, however it is incomplete.
The 7 habits are quite good, however, they are present in other books as well, that encompass more material and lessons.

How to win friends and influence people or the shareholder meeting letters of Warren Buffett are both books for example that touch on certain points in this book but provide an overall better and more fulfilled learning experience.

Overall I do like this book and I could see how it would, at first glance from the perspective of a new reader seem like a complete book, however once you start to read the different material out there, you quickly realize that many more lessons could have been taught.

Finally, the main lessons remain true. Focus, proactive thinking, mutual growth and personal improvement are all lessons this book instills and are the foundation for healthy business and a meaningful life.

Straight to the point

Gets straight to the point. You should read The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People before you read this one. This one is more of a summary.

In this teaching, Dr Covey shares his principles along with specifics targeted to network marketing: Be proactive; begin with the end in mind; put first things first; think win-win; seek first to understand, then to be understood; synergize; sharpen the saw. He also discusses learning best by teaching others, and paradigm shifts in our thinking: "We all see the world not as it is, but as we are. We look through our own frame of reference, the paradigm of our whole past background and experience."

Throughout, he gets you to really look at your priorities, thinking, communication, vision, planning, use of time, and personal development to find and correct areas that can be improved and enhanced beyond their current level. He teaches: "You are not your habits; thus, you can make or break your habits. You do not need to be a victim of conditions or conditioning."

The CD package is accompanied by a 47-page printed training booklet to provide some written key overviews for each chapter and contains charts and illustrations needed for some of the concepts. Without this visual aid, it is difficult to follow the time management matrix quadrants discussed in the "Put First Things First" segment without previous exposure.

On Sharpening The Saw: "The only person over whom you have direct and immediate control is yourself. So the greatest assets to constantly develop, preserve and enhance are your own capabilities. And no one can do it for you. You have to do it for yourself. It is the single greatest investment you can make because it leverages everything else."

I believe the "7 Habits" training can benefit everyone who is interested in improving themselves, so get it, and "sharpen your saw!"
