Talk about putting the pedal to the metal! I have to say that this is one of my favorite volumes of the series so far, and it absolutely encompasses the things that I love most about No Need For Tenchi! as a whole. The pacing, the humor, the action, and the character dynamics continue to be stellar as we wrap up this arc that began in volume 4.

Here we have a more proper introduction to the antagonist character of Yume as her connection with Washu is revealed, as is her relationship with the Shima brothers and the secret history behind her theft of the Second Generation Royal Tree Bizen. There is a lot going on in this volume and over a dozen characters to follow, which is probably rough at times, but after years of trying to plod my way through the Wheel of Time series, I didn't have a problem with it.

Truthfully, I'm well aware that the manga isn't considered canon (at least any more) but I think that Hitoshi Okuda did so well with the characters and keeping the spirit of the original two OVAs alive and well with this series. This volume is such a perfect example of that.

A light, fun end to the Yume arc. Highly readable, with good pacing and clear art.
