This is just a sweet, feel-good story. I bumped this up to a 4 star because it had 3 short stories in it. If it was one story it may have been too long and dropped points.

Well, that was a waste of several perfectly good days.

Honestly, all the plot was great. The characters were good. The writing was decent. The setting was my favorite place on earth. But several things ruined this little collection for me.

The author tried to cram too many storylines, too much time, and too many characters into the stories. I was able to survive through the first book without getting too confused. However, in the second book, I could barely keep track of all the characters and the epilogue was terrible, with major info-dumping and random plot lines introduced (which were never mentioned again).

In the third? Don’t get me started on the huge time difference between it and the first two, the characters and plotlines I couldn’t keep track of, and the inconsistencies.

Then the ending of the third book was terrible. It just didn’t end how it was supposed to. This is no ‘personal preference’ thing. The ending was horrible, and it gave the wrong message.

As far as content, I’d say PG or PG-13. There are many mentions of prostitutes (called saloon girls) and one of the characters is the daughter of one and has to deal with the shame of her parentage. A character was raped (no details). Mentions of miscarriages, pregnancy, etc. No language, very little violence.

Tracey Bateman welcomes you to Oregon Country in the Oregon Brides stories.
Synopsis:
Star has a secret about her past life that she wants to keep hidden. Her mother working in the Salon. She runs away and straight into the arms of Michael Riley. The story is not that simple because Michael has dealt with a past that involves the saloons as well. Will he forgive and be able to move forward?
Hope feels that all her problems will be solved if she can move her family out west. Now how to get around that small detail of no husband? Could Andy Riley be the key?
Eva feels the world at her feet and possesses a wild spirit just like her pa. No man has been able to tame her yet. Will Jonesy succeed where others have failed?
My Thoughts:
I am a fan of Tracey Bateman’s writing. I actually liked Oregon Brides better than the California Chances. I found each story interesting. The book kept my interest all the way through. I felt hope and joy emanating from each story.
I love reading a book that can take you back in time. Ms. Bateman describes the ideal setting for a story of love and romance. What entices you to read a story? Would you be interested in totally escaping?

I have to give Oregon Brides... 5 STARS. It's absolutely addicting. It was difficult to put down even when my eyes hurt from reading too much. A great book to read if you're interested in Christian Romances. I have to give Tracey Victoria Bateman two thumbs up. Would offer more if I had more thumbs ;)

These were your basic old-fashioned, Christian, homestead romance. 3 interrelated stories in one book.
