This ballot box was stuffed with malice...After a grueling campaign, Election Day has finally come to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and baker Sadie Moose is ready for her best friend, Paige, to win the Mayor’s race. The promising day starts out on a grim note, though, with an altercation at a sign waving event sending rumors flying across town.
Then the fire alarm goes off at the polling place, and in the chaos, Sadie stumbles over a body in the smoke. It’s Wade Fisher, Paige’s billionaire developer opponent. And he’s dead.
With Paige the prime suspect, Sadie and her quirky crew set out to solve the mystery. But as they crash press conferences, duck federal agents, question pageant queens, and sober up inebriated lawyers, the evidence continues to pile up against Paige. To complicate matters, Sadie's ex, Merritt, is back, and his fiancé is Sadie’s new lawyer, as well as the head of the shady Gotham Enterprises, which has been wreaking havoc on Sadie’s life for months.
Will Sadie unravel the mystery before Paige gets locked up? Or will the killer pull off a surprise win?
Election Day Murder is a not-so-cozy and includes mature language and a sprinkle of spice alongside the cozy setting, quirky characters, and mystery we all love in cozy mysteries. It's the fifth book in the Jackson Hole Moose's Bakery Not So Cozy Mystery series, which is best read in order.
Sue Pepper writes not so cozy mysteries for millennials in the Pacific Northwest where she lives with her two kids, elderly dachshund, and real life action hero husband. A former resident of Jackson Hole, Wyoming pushed out by the billionaire-caused housing crisis, she enjoys writing revenge and redemption for the fictional residents of her Jackson Hole Moose's Bakery Not So Cozy Mystery series, starting with her debut, Mountain Town Murder.
Full disclosure: I was a beta reader for this book. And I love it. If you don’t know Sadie Moose is a nosy bi+ch who is a bleeding heart liberal, you must be new around here. As the newer residents of Jackson Hole running for Mayor against her bestie Paige, find out. Don’t mess with Moose’s family! Lots of quippy commentary and need to highlight one liners throughout the story. This one handed out a few twists and turns and kept me guessing! Merritt is baaaaaack and Tyrone is the goodest boy ever. The story is set mostly away from the bakery and we get a wonderful summary to catch us up at the end. Excited to see where this series heads next!
Election Day has finally arrived, and Paige is battling Wade for the mayoral seat, when smoke and flames brake out at there polling place. When Wade is found dead, all evidence leans toward Paige. Can Moose save her best friend? And what is Merritt doing back in town, and with gorgeous blond on his arm? Sporting an engagement ring that can be seen from outer space? These mysteries are great, strong women, and even stronger friendships. You won’t want to put it down!
Another mystery in Jackson Hole where a developer is running for mayor against Sadie's best friend. On election day while at the poll fire breaks out and while helping get people Sadie trips over the dead body of the mayoral candidate and her friend is the primary suspect. Good reading with a lot plot twists and romance thrown in.
Another great Sadie Moose mystery, it included all the usual elements of their ragtag team of friends while upping the scale of the murder. It was full of sleuthing, a perfect amount of comic relief, and the goodest dog sidekick in Tyrone.
Very happy to be back in Jackson Hole with Sadie and friends. This book sometimes felt a little too real with our current political climate, but that's the point, I suppose. Still cute and I still super love the diverse cast in these books.
