3.5 stars. A light-but-serious book that blends metafiction, excursions into childhood memory, and lots of details of the '90s in the Former Soviet Union. (Santa Barbara, anyone?) Much of the book takes place in Baku, which gave the book a special resonance for me since I always enjoyed my visits to Azerbaijan.
