The lists are divided into 6 parts: Genres, Characters, Books About Self, Setting, Subjects, and Audience. In each part there are between 9 to more than a dozen lists titled for example: “(Books That Appeal to) Goths,” “World Literature; Global Fiction for Teens,” “Gangs,” “Chick Lit with Minority Characters,” “Hip Hop Literature.”
The fiction and nonfiction books reviewed are grouped within each list by age level “Books for Ages 12-15” and “Books for older teens” as well as some designated adult to signify books published for adults but suitable for teens. The 100 lists each contain over a dozen titles.
The author is a school library media specialist, educator, and academic in the field of youth services and technology. She’s published a dozen titles addressing K-12 education, literacy, readers advisory, and booktalking. For this collection the author worked in consultation with secondary teachers and public librarians. She also names nine contributors in the book’s introduction.
The lists are annotated bibliographies featuring: author, title, publisher, publication date and number of pages, usually followed with a one-sentence description of the book’s content.
As the author outlines in the book’s title: “educators, librarians, parents and children” but what about teens? I would suggest this would be a good resource for reaching reluctant readers who usually have difficulty fining relevant narratives and identifiable characters, for example one reading list deals with at-risk teens titled “Runaways,” or “Self-Mutilation.”
Very diverse and specific subject matter is addressed for example “Life in the Fat Lane: Books About Food Issues for Teens.”
Titles may be relevant to a point since last published in 2006. Not enough detail to make a full selection decision.
Read-alike bookmarks already formatted and cited ready to be reproduced from the book.

I have been using this book to find recommendations for my students. So far, so good.

Different types of lists than I have seen in other books. The author/editor seems to think like I think, which is always nice.
