from 2006 so it doesn't have a lot of info about online markets, but all the techniques and other technical bits were so informative we love an accessible guide to publishing!
This book gave a depth into reveals how to achieve as a freelance writer, the in's and out's in the business sense of the word. I like the tips! If you are to write for a specific Magazine, for example, then to research the magazine will give you the understanding for the articles. He spent two weeks studying a year's worth of magazines he knew the approach to ideas, subjects it liked and didn't like, how it handled quotes and anecdotes...in other words its personality. I really like the four elements of a good article section. I really need to do more rewrites, and so I learned this reading these types of books.
Nice book that provides the beginner guidance on writing for magazines and trade journals (non-refereed content). Covers how to structure articles, the basic kinds of articles that can be sold, and provides some limited guidance on marketing your content. There are more up-to-date sources for the actual markets for your work, but this is a good start on learning the craft.
