Nella postfazione di questo libro l'autore scrive più o meno "questo non è un libro per imparare la matematica. È un libro di problemi matematici divertenti, non importanti. E non si può imparare così la matematica". Palle. Per imparare la matematica devi trovare un feeling, e il modo migliore per farlo è risolvere dei problemi: poi ti metterai a studiare la teoria che ci sta dietro. E questo libro è la migliore raccolta di problemi che abbia mai trovato, e ne ho letti tanti di libri di problemi! La maggior parte di essi mi erano sconosciuti, e soprattutto, tranne che negli ultimi due capitoli che d'altra parte sono intitolati "Toughies" e "Unsolved", non richiedono conoscenze esagerate. Posso solo dire che ho prentotato sulla fiducia il prossimo libro di Winkler che uscirà a fine mese :)

For my intended use it gets 1 star. I'm a therapist at a nursing home and do a lot of cognitive rehabilitation. Unfortunately, these puzzles are WAY too complicated for any of my clients (average age is 60+). This may be a great book for mathaholics, but not for rehab clients.
