This book is not horrible – hell, the author's prose is exquisite: concise, affecting, so captivating and eloquent. It's the story that bothers me so immensely – too stretched out, too melodramatic, too desperate to dive into the discrimination of social classes (พจมาน is actually an upperclass woman lost in the lower-class society, so whatever the book is trying to convey regarding this matter is proven false immediately). How much of a potential it has, but in the end... it's just another Thai drama that has no substance – only angst and dull romance, which is why its adaptations are so successful.
