This work stands as the first comprehensive study of United Nations peacebuilding in East Timor from May 1999 to the end of the UNMISET mission in May 2005. A special feature of this book is the direct involvement in the field by the authors in key institutional sectors through various phases of the UN peacebuilding process. The authors also bring to bear on the subject a multidisciplinary approach drawing upon anthropology, sociology, political science, and international relations theory.
