About the author

Kōtarō Isaka (伊坂幸太郎, Isaka Koutarou) is a Japanese author of mystery fiction.

Isaka was born in Matsudo City, Chiba Prefecture, Japan. After graduating from the law faculty of Tohoku University, he worked as a system engineer. Isaka quit his company job and focused on writing after hearing Kazuyoshi Saito's 1997 song "Kōfuku na Chōshoku Taikutsu na Yūshoku", and the two have collaborated several times. In 2000, Isaka won the Shincho Mystery Club Prize for his debut novel Ōdyubon no Inori, after which he became a full-time writer.
In 2002, Isaka's novel Lush Life gained much critical acclaim, but it was his Naoki Prize-nominated work Jūryoku Piero (2003) that brought him popular success. His following work Ahiru to Kamo no Koin Rokkā won the 25th Yoshikawa Eiji Prize for New Writers.
Jūryoku Piero (2003), Children (2004), Grasshopper (2004), Shinigami no Seido (2005) and Sabaku (2006) were all nominated for the Naoki Prize.
Isaka was the only author in Japan to be nominated for the Hon'ya Taishō in each of the award's first four years, finally winning in 2008 with Golden Slumber. The same work also won the 21st Yamamoto Shūgorō Prize.

Shiina, chàng sinh viên đại học vừa bước chân đến thành phố Sendai. Shiina nhanh chống được chàng hàng xóm mới của anh ta, Kawasaki, mời cùng đi cướp một cuốn từ điển tại một hiệu sách. Hai năm trước, bạn gái cũ của Kawasaki, Kotomi và chàng trai người nước ngoài, Dorje, đang quan tâm đến các vụ sát hại thú cưng trong thành phố.

Bản thân mình khi đọc sách chẳng bao giờ chờ đợi twist - có thì có, không thì thôi. Sau bao lần đọc sách của Isaka Kotaro, mình cũng không hy vọng nhiều ở việc điều tra, hồi hộp gì đó; bởi Isaka Kotaro luôn tập trung vào những thứ "kỳ lạ". Còn ở cuốn sách này đã kỳ lạ ngay từ tựa đề, nhưng má ơi nó thật sự bất ngờ!!!
Yếu tố mystery của 家鸭与野鸭的投币式寄物柜 nằm ở mức vừa đủ thôi, nhưng cách kể chuyện của Isaka Kotato vốn đã hài hước và lạ lùng. Có hai mốc thời gian Hiện tại và Quá khứ xen kẽ nhau, dần dần mọi thứ sẽ được tiết lộ.

Những nhân vật mang đến cảm xúc dạt dào, câu chuyện của Quá khứ thật buồn: một Kawasaki với lòng tự trọng cao, mong muốn hẹn hò với tất cả phụ nữ 365 ngày. Kotomi, luôn khó chịu với bạn trai cũ, nhưng quan tâm đến công lý. Đặc biệt nhất là Dorje, một người ngoại quốc đang thích nghi với Nhật bản, luôn ngưỡng mộ thái độ kì quặc của Kawasaki.

Như mình đã nói, đừng mong đợi nhiều, bởi nhịp truyện của 家鸭与野鸭的投币式寄物柜 luôn nhẹ nhàng, sự tàn bạo xuất hiện chẳng cần lý do, và sâu lắng một cách âm thầm. Người đọc có thể sẽ như Shiina - không thực sự hiểu chuyện quái gì đang xảy ra ở Hiện tại, đang cố gắng để biết câu chuyện của Quá khứ. Và bất ngờ làm sao, có một SỰ NGẠC NHIÊN ở Hiện tại - lý giải cho tất cả mọi điều, mình đã sốc bởi mình vốn không mong đợi nó. Mình còn thích cách Isaka Kotaro lòng ghép văn hóa của nước ngoài vào câu chuyện, nghe thôi đã rợn người, một câu chuyện về nhân quả, sự tàn ác giết hại động vật.

張筱森為本書所寫的解說〈廣辭苑與寵物殺手的巴布．狄倫〉中提到：
「不過或許是《 Lush Life 》這樣登場人物眾多、劇情時序複雜的作品寫來需要精密的計算，實在太過辛苦，之後的伊坂便鮮少採取如此龐雜的劇情線。相對地，《家鴨與野鴨》在登場人物和時序上雖顯得十分精簡，但是在劇情的前後呼應則更為精準、更能勾引出讀者想要一窺究竟的欲望。」

我的閱讀體驗也是如此！《Lush Life》的結構令我想越快看完越好，《家鴨與野鴨的投幣式置物櫃》也讓人忍不住想趕快看下去，補足敘事還沒有完全揭露的部份。
連續看了幾本伊坂幸太郎的作品，發現他不斷在嘗試不同的寫作形式跟結構，很期待下一本會怎麼玩XD

這本大概是伊坂的書中我拖拉最久才看完的。大概快兩個月?
跟以往輕快的節奏不同，家鴨野鴨從一開始就帶著陰霾，朦朧的晦暗。當劇情越來越邁向不詳的道路時，讀者也彷彿被緩緩掐住脖子般地呼吸困難。謎題解開了，但缺少了暢快，只剩下寂寞。也許這就是伊坂筆下孤獨的旋律吧。

I read this in the Chinese translated version.

I went in with the expectation that this would be a whimsical biography of a guy going about his daily life with his odd neighbor. The banter between characters is quite entertaining and pages go by without you noticing. Because I wasn't familiar with Japanese names nor with Chinese books, it took a while before I realised there were 2 different narrators.

Once that clicked, I suspected something more was going on, and it was quite delightful to verify my suspicions as the chapters went on.

The story sorta ventured into another genre midway, which was a pleasant surprise. But I felt it could have done more to explore the territory there, instead of conservatively keeping everything safe, metaphorically and literally. The ending was really abrupt. Yes there was closure, and perhaps it was in line with the book's tone that this was about a normal, whimsical life without too much action nor tension.

A little bit slow to begin with—took me a while to become attached to the characters—but I like the way it revealed a crucial point and liked how everything was tied together. It was rather depressing among all the Isaka works I’ve read though.

だいぶ昔にこの本を読んだことが記憶にあって、スラスラとスムーズに読めた。なぜか全部すでに把握してるかのように読めた。それぞれのキャラクターのキャラが濃すぎて、良い感じだった。キャラ構成が上手いと思ったし、その全く変わったキャラクターがどう交わって行くのかも読んでいて楽しかった。現在と過去を交互に読み進めて行く。ミステリー感もあり、ドラマ感もあり、コメディ感もある。心がホッとする場面もあれば、ハラハラすることもある。総合的に好きな本でした。

又是伊坂的那种小温暖小伤感外带点不循规的小意外。

要在家鸭、野鸭和投币式购物柜之间建立联系，大概迷茫程度堪比把鲍勃迪伦和不丹关联起来。（说起来，不丹哪里有那么不为人知？）故事里玩了一点点人称转换梗，伊坂式故事的标配——固定bgm和多线程——似乎都出现了。在对待外国人的态度上稍微有点文化隔阂的感觉。河崎让我想到西泽的飘撇学长呢。

文筆情節架構都迷人，難怪是出版很久還常常看到有人推薦的書，無法給到5分是因為太惋惜了。

Nope. Just really didn't enjoy it. Hated the characters, could not empathise with a single one of them, got incredibly tired/bored of the repetitive characterisations (yes, she is very pale! Yes, he is a chronic womaniser! Yes, the token foreigner is a ridiculously happy-go-lucky weirdo) ...
I had to read through the whole thing just to see where it was finally going. But in the end, I certainly don't feel any richer or better off for having done so. Disappointing really. I liked the concept of splitting the whole story between past and present, both halves moving forward at the same pace, but beyond that... no.

依(土反)的書目前已經看完的有四本，本書、LUSH LIFE、死神的精準度及孩子們；作者很喜歡玩弄時間先後順序的遊戲，把一個故事切割成每個時間、再把時間內的每個人切割出來，然後重新排列組合.....雖說公式已經找到，可是能玩成這樣也真的不是普通人；本書是現在、過去彼此交錯，最後合而為一，LUSH LIFE更是神奇，人物眾多、前後時間交叉連結(真懷疑作者是不是有先做好順序年表，才沒有搞錯)，孩子們透過不同的人、不同的時間(事件有早有晚，互相交錯，中間有時間應該差很久)去描述主角(主角是同一個人，可是透過不同的人，不同的時間去描述)，而死神這本書更是透過非人類的角度去看待可能差異上百年的事件.......；照說公式化的作品通常很容易就膩了(如密碼與歷史結合的書，現在我看到就覺得反胃提不起勁)，可是依(土反)的書卻不會，我想他除了上述的公式外，另外還加入了一個元素－無常；世界上很多事是都有道理規則可循���但也有很多事是不在意料之中的；依(土反)的作品使人覺得活著是很辛苦，可是也到處充滿了意外與驚奇.....這也就是人生......

てっきり伊坂幸太郎を読むのは初めてだと思っていたのですが、実は以前に『ラッシュライフ』を読んでいましたね。あんまりピンと来なくてあまり関心をを持たなかった『ラッシュライフ』は2002年の作品で、『アヒルと鴨』は2003年の作品と知って安心。『アヒルと鴨』はプロットだけでなく、登場人物たちがそれぞれに魅力的だったと思います。

2年前の琴美とドルジの話と、現在の椎名と河崎の話が交互に展開するので、慣れるまでちょっと時間がかかりますが、いつどこで2年前と現在がはっきりと繋がるのだろう、と最後の最後まで興味を挽きつけられました。こういう種明かしの仕方って面白い。『ラッシュライフ』が書かれた1年前より良くなってきている、ということで、最近の彼の作品にも少し興味が湧いてきました。機会があればまたいつか。。。

本屋を襲って広辞苑を奪う、と突拍子もない計画を立てる隣人との出会いから始まる物語。その計画が立てられるまでの経緯が、過去と現在が錯綜する構成の中で描かれる。ストーリーも面白いけど、特に登場人物が魅力的で、どんどん引き込まれた。

出乎意料的好看。

故事原是兩條主線，分別是現在的歡樂與過去的悲傷，漸漸地像是蠟燭的燈芯一樣交織在一起。但歡樂下對比悲劇中無法得到的和平，看起來格外惆悵，好人無法善終，令我想起「天擇論」裡不擇手段才能生存的概念，令人既是憤慨又是憂傷。

我特別喜歡一句不丹人說的話：要活得快樂只有兩個訣竅。一是不要按喇叭，二是不要計較小事。

過得豁達，是要饒過自己吧？
