While in China in 1992, I bought and first read this book when I was studying Chinese. I wanted to study Chinese Medicine because it was related to my martial arts practices. It wasn't until 2001, that I started and eventually graduated with a degree in TCM. There are other more comprehensive books on this topic, such as The Foundations of Chinese Medicine by Giovanni Maciocia, or the standard "CAM" used in colleges. This book is still relevant and at the right level for someone getting started in this field. I've decided to use this book as the primary reference with my martial arts students, supplementing the material with my own experience, diagrams online and general Q&A.
