"Aristide" reminded me of "Emil and the Detectives". The Euro-culture and vintage-nature of the story was charming. I liked Aristide's character growth within the story; how he made better choices, better decisions when he had to think for himself than he did when Granny was thinking for him. A good recommendation for read aloud. A book that raises some laughter and discussion during or after read aloud I'd guess.
