She is best known for her contemporary romance series THE ALEXANDERS written as M. Malone.
BRIEF SUMMARY This is book 1 in The Mirage Agency series by the author. Maya and Milo works for The Mirage Agency where they are not only competitive co-workers but also best friends. Maya has developed feelings for Milo but figures she isn’t his type compared to his bimbo Barbie types. Milo also has feelings for Maya, and working on a new account with her as well as a bet will bring him closer to having her.
THOUGHTS I enjoyed this book a lot. Both Maya and Milo were fun to read about and I enjoyed getting to know them throughout the story. From the beginning, their competitive streak brought out their chemistry for each other. Their boardroom presentation to Andre Lavin was funny with a sexy teasing distraction towards each other that brought a smile to my face. Their intimacy in the bedroom, bathroom, and office with other things surely does not disappoint the reader. The ending was awkward, embarrassing, and fun with their co-workers and I enjoyed that. I am very eager to read book 2 in the series as this book wet my appetite for more about the agency.
Dislikes, I have none other than when you're enjoying reading a novella that excites you, you wish it could go on to see where their relationship will take them.
Storyline: FAIR Intimacy: VERY VERY GOOD Enjoyment: GOOD
Description: Best friends and ad execs, Mya and Milo, are fierce competitors in the boardroom, but they’re both nursing secret crushes on each other. Can they change their status from friends to lovers without losing their hearts?
The Good: This was a blazing hot, sweet, and funny read. Mya and Milo have serious chemistry between the sheets and in the office. I liked that they were at equal levels in their careers and that their jobs figured so heavily into their love story. I also liked that their lack of communication was fear-based as opposed to convenient-plot-based. And there was a great speech at the end that reminded me that a hot story can be romantic and touching as well. This was a tightly-plotted, well-structured read with excellent dialogue, fun situations, and really likeable characters. Definitely worth the $1.49.
The Bad: Giving your H/H names that start with the same letter is always risky. Giving them names that start with same sound? — don’t do that.
The Naughty: Erotic. Explicit language. Back-to-back sex scenes. Sex with food.
All I can say is wow! Milo and Mya lit the pages on fire. The saying is friends make the best lovers and that rings true for these two. From their competitive rivalry in the boardroom for the Lavin presentation, to their steamy love scenes these two just couldn't get enough of each other. I know this series is a few years old, and I am so mad I never came across it before today. Looking forward to reading the rest of the books in this series, it looks like they are all scorching. I'm going to have to add Minx Malone to my list of fav authors.
great read the only problem i had was it was short, but i really enjoy this book if your looking a for something to mental satisfy your sexual desire then this read is for you.
2.5 stars. Wanted to like this more. The sex was hot and that's always fun. My major beef with this one is that I LOATHE when one MC is the source of miscommunication and misunderstanding (all on their own) and they say and do some pretty awful stuff (to someone they claim to love) yet the OTHER MC is the one grovelling and apologising when they had absolutely no reason to! Add to that, the MC in the wrong didn't apologise AT ALL. The massive insecurities in this female MC and her actions/reactions toward Milo were so not cool. Then he's made to feel apologetic for having a life before her (she dated as well) and he actually apologises because SHE doesn't trust him though he'd just spent two days telling her how special she is to him and he's never done anything to her to make her doubt THEIR relationship over time. Ugh. So not cool. Completely changed my feelings about the story. This is a new to me author and I'll give her another go with the hope that this isn't a trend in her books. Unfortunate.
Finally! This is the perfect example of a short story. I did not feel like the author skimped on the story line to make it short, I also did not feel like it would have gained much by being longer.
This is a interracial and a friends to lovers story. The conflict between Milo and Mya was believable and not overly dramatic. I think I would have reacted the same way she did. Book came to a nice close. I might even consider reading the rest of the series. Sex scenes were good. I felt that in a couple places they lost steam, but they quickly picked right back up again.
This novel is about friends being in love with each other and being pretty oblivious about it. The book was hilarious, I found myself laughing out loud randomly and getting dirty looks from my hubby and kids. It was full of angst, tension and emotion. The characters were absolutely darling and oh so hot. The ending was great, it ended on a high note. It was a joy to read!
I would have probably never read this book if I did not need 'Interracial Romance' genre for some challenge (yes, I am challenge addict I know). I picked this because it was the short and on popular list for that genre.
Well it was short and average book. I did not like it enough to want to continue this series or read something else by Minx Malone.
now this is a writer that has not disappointed me yet. you take sexy and add relationship, weird characters, beautiful mountains, sexy men, hot women, broken, and find a way to stir all of this to make a story that is really a fun read or something more.
a good one and half thumbs up!!- I enjoyed this read very Much!!!! it left me feeling all warm inside... (on of the moment when you want to spinning hug)
wasn't overly impressed with this story. Competitors & friends at work they both are trying to deny their feelings for each other until they are thrown a curve ball by their boss & a client.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Minx Malone did a great job creating believable characters along with a great back story. I actually found it quite funny that through the story Mia and Milo are totally in love with each other and both think they're so smart with their little plans. Mia believing that Milo doesn't feel anything for her so she is just going to enjoy a weekend of great sex, and Milo thinking that Mia doesn't love him so he has to come up with this super elaborate plan to seduce her mind, body, and soul.
The chemistry between these two characters was great. Being that they were both secretly in love with each but are also best friends makes for some interesting dialogue and situations. I think one of my favorite parts of the whole story is how Mia tries to break Milo's concentration during their meeting, which she completely succeeds on.
I thought each character had a good back story and I appreciated that they both had their own qualms and baggage right from the beginning. Anyone that tells you that you can get into a relationship with zero baggage is full of it.
Although there is definitely drama in this story I didn't feel like it was forced or unrealistic. With how long Mia and Milo had been best friends, their trepidation was understandable. And although I personally would've slammed the door in that girl's face and turned my full anger on Milo directly until he explained things to me, that's just me and the majority of people don't like confrontation. So again, completely realistic to me that she acted the way she did when her feelings were hurt.
I enjoyed reading about their exploration of each other. Though they've both been wanting each other so bad they take their time getting to know each others bodies and are truly trying to find the things that make each other happy. The only thing that I wished had been different would've been a clue as to their lives before she moved so I could've had a better idea of where they started out from. Mia makes many references about leaving because of her feelings for Milo but I would've enjoyed finding out Milo's perspective on the whole thing.
I also loved the set up for the other books in this collection. I loved Andre's character immediately so I'm excited to read about his adventures.
Lastly, the sex between these two is not only hot but very passionate as well which I appreciated. Now I just need to decide what kinds of donuts I want to buy ;)
This was damn near everything that I needed it to be. The problem was that it was too short. Beg for It had everything it needed to be a full length novel, if the author were interested in investing a little more time on plot development. A huge chunk of the e-book is all sex, hot sex, but all sex. Still, I thought Malone did a good job of incorporating plenty of heart. Because of the length the novel felt a little rushed in throwing our hero and heroine together. They've got plenty of back history but we don't really get to experience too much of it because of the novella's brevity.
Mya Taylor is in love with her best friend, Milo Hamilton. A hastily made bet on who will get the new account at the ad agency they work for leads to a long, hot weekend during which they admit to wanting more than to be just best buddies. Only, of course, a random willowy, blonde shows up at the door and our short, dark, curvy heroine gets the wrong idea and goes home to pout.
Malone is a strong writer, and unlike much of the other offerings in this category that I've read of late, this was a well-written, solidly edited short. There were some things that I didn't care for, like some of the hero's more cave man actions and the heroine's limp pining, but overall it was a good read. The other thing that I didn't like was the oblique to non-existent references to our heroine's ethnicity. She's described as having loads of curls and with skin from caramel to cinnamon. Now, there's a lot of distance between caramel and cinnamon. I, for one, like the cinnamon reference better. The cover is the only absolute description of the heroine as African-American.
I've been reading a lot of self-published Amazon novellas with interracial couples at the heart. Most of them are throw always, but the ones that I really do like highlight the differences between the couples. Sadly, for all that it's better written than most of them, Malone's story lacks that component.
My Review: Mya has worked with Milo at an advertising agency, competed with him for accounts, and been his friend for five years. They started out in Atlanta, but when she realized she was falling in love with him, she decided it was time for a change and headed to the Mirage Agency in DC. Shortly thereafter, Milo was offered a job at the same agency and he accepted the offer and now they are working together again, which is slowly driving Mya insane as she is lusting after him. What she doesn't realize, is that Milo is having the same issues.
The tension culminates to a head when the two place a highly sexual bet over an account which results in a weekend full of incredible passion. Milo is trying to figure out how to expand the weekend into much more, but Mya doesn't realize where his head is, and is worried about losing her heart and her friend.
This is a hot little book with tons of really passionate loving. These two are best friends, but neither one realizes what the other is thinking which created the tension for the book. I like that they have a highly competitive relationship at work. I thought that it added an interesting element to the story. There was an interesting twist at the end that I really enjoyed with their careers, which I didn't see coming. I also really liked what Andre added to the story and LOVE that his story is next.
If you are looking for a hot little read, this is a good one.
This was a pretty good short story.I found myself laughing and yelling at the book during different scenes. I love 'take charge, sexually aggressive men' and Milo is it. I couldn't help but wonder if Maya truly deserved him. I'm not going to give you a synopsis, but I will say that its the typical office romance where mis-communication causes people to act like fools. Although the story was mighty short, I was still entertained. And, the sex scenes were great. Who doesn't like those uninhibited, freeing, honest sexual experiences? Good god... I remember being reckless. LOL Anywayyy... it's a fun, fast read. So, for less than $2, you can't go wrong.
I didn't enjoy this story as much as I've enjoyed other books by this author. Guy and Girl best friends lust after each other secretly in love with each other. However I did like the manuever she pulled in the board room to distract Milo during his presentation.
I found this to be a boring read. It's my opinion so all of you swearing by this book calm down and find get your thongs in a knot. It was kind of corny, for lack of a better word. Very predictable and a let down because if the misleading reviews (see comments below). Sorry not feeling this one.
