Michelle Bridges' aim is to help Australians shed a lot of weight quickly. Her controversial approach begins with inviting readers to take a long hard look at where their weight issues stem from, and then guiding them through a mental renovation to a new future. This book includes Michelle's own food and exercise diaries; classic case studies of successful 'losers'; classic food and exercise mistakes we all make. The most crucial part of the book is the twelve week exercise program, whichcan easily be followed at home. This book is about controlling calorie intake and exercising every day - its dramatic, intense and promises results.
awesome book if you are looking to train for an event or looking to change your lifestyle. I am using it to train for a tough mudder event. I don't 100% agree with her dietary advice but her toning, flexibility and aerobic training guides are worth every penny! buy the book used on Amazon for $8 bucks!
That Michelle Bridges is sure hardcore. She advocates never eating dessert, only drinking wine on Saturday and never having carbs with your evening meal. While that is clearly crazy talk (wine only on Saturday? Insanity), once you get past that, the recipes in the book are actually good, and that's why we buy cookbooks, right? They're not cordon bleu but they are good, serviceable, cheap, easy to prepare and healthy. Bridges also notes which meals are good to freeze and prepare in advance, which I have found very useful.
If you're looking for some new healthy recipes to add to your regular rotation, I recommend this book, but just the recipes. In terms of the diet, I think it is too inflexible (there is no section on eating out or eating with friends, for example) but I guess some people need that kind of approach to lose weight. I just wanted the recipes, not the diet plan, so it worked for me.
Well, after reading, I still don't know how to calculate my BMI. I even tried to do it online and got a different answer.
However, there are some areas that are covered that are really good and some bits even inspirational. Others areas seemed a bit light and not enough nitty gritty. Still, pretty good overall.
This book bangs on a bit about getting in the right mindset before setting your goals - I guess if you're starting from scratch that would be helpful, but I just wanted to get an idea of a workout plan that would get results.
The 12 week plan is awesome! The recipes aren't bad either.
The thing I like the most about the book is the language. You will feel as if Michelle is sitting next to you giving you positive speech and training you personally. The book makes you accountable of being over weight and gives nice techniques and enthusiasm. I loved it.
I continue to use this book and lose last five kilo to train - I lost19 kilos following this book and lose last 5 kgs fantastic books. Realistic train options
