Newly divorced Kate just wants a quiet life with her son Charlie now that she’s single. She’s not looking for love, but then an old schoolfriend turns up on her doorstep out of the blue.

He’s not just Joe anymore, he’s world-famous rock star Joseph Wild. And he’s looking to rent one of Kate’s cozy converted barns so he can hide out from the paparazzi after his own break-up.

Joseph is just the same sweet, funny boy that Kate remembers, only now he’s more than a little bit sexy! He comes round for dinner every night and gets on wonderfully with Charlie. But he couldn’t possibly be interested in Kate, could he . . . ?

Soon the pair realize the strength of their attraction for each other — it feels like they’re meant to be. But then Joseph’s ex-wife shows up and spoils everything.

Can Joseph leave behind his glamorous lifestyle — and his murky past — and settle for a quiet life with Kate in the Devon countryside? If the couple are truly meant to be, Kate must convince Joseph that she’s the one for him.

Emma Bennet

Emma grew up and lived in London, before falling in love and moving to Wales to marry her own hero. Emma now lives with her husband, 4 children, and many animals a few miles outside of a small Welsh market town. She can often be found in rivers attempting to control two overexcited chocolate labradors.

Seven charming romances are currently available from the Amazon bestselling authoress:

Number 1 Australian kindle bestseller, 'His Secret Daughter', is the heart-rending story of Iris, a woman falling in love with the father of her child. The only problem is she never told him they had a daughter.

The beautiful landscape around her home gave Emma the inspiration for 'The Green Hills of Home', a tale of love and duty in which country girl Gwen struggles to save her family home and avoid her feelings for her handsome, suave new boss. Is he quite all he seems?

'Snowed in for her Wedding Day' is a novella picking up Gwen's story as her wedding day approaches, but with terrible weather, and an absent groom, will she have the happy ending she so deserves?

'Just Desserts' is a novella about confused chef Leah, who's falling for her handsome French co-worker Jean-Claude, but meant to be marrying to Dan in just a few weeks! Who will she choose?

'Her Perfect Hero' was released in July 2015 as 'I Need a Hero', it's a lovely comic romantic read for anyone who's ever searched for Mr Right (and failed to find him!). Despair of Bronte, a romance writer, incapable of spotting when the perfect man is right next door! Full of horses, country houses and dentists, just beware of the foul-tempered cat Mr Darcy!

'Starstruck', proves that falling in love with a rock star is harder than you'd think! When newly divorced Kate finds school friend, now super famous rock star Joseph Wild, on her doorstep, her whole quiet, ordinary life is thrown into disarray. Is the attraction between them enough to make up for all the hurdles they have to cross if they want to be together?

Latest release, 'Her Sister's Baby' is a beautiful and emotional story about grief, the promises we make and finding love in the most unexpected of places.

Emma likes (in no particular order): cake, books, Cary Grant films, prosecco, chocolate, guinea pigs, knitting, quilting and happily ever afters!

Refreshing rockstar tale. Oh, the story isn't the refreshing part but the characters were excellent and the setting very interesting.

I enjoyed it a lot.

I do love friends to lovers reads, especially when they are reuniting friends. Joe and Kaye were super cute in this story, both fresh out of long term relationships, so much in common. And yet so different, she lives a quiet life while he is a famous rock star. Reuniting was the best thing that ever happened to either. Great read, this is my first from this author, and it won't be the last.

A rather mild story about Joe Wild, a run-away rock star and Kate, his childhood crush. Kate is newly divorced and running a small farm/resort.
Add her son, his daughter and Joe's vindictive movie star wife and that's about it.

On the eve of Kate’s divorce, feeling nostalgic, she decides to call her old friend Joseph Wild.

Normally, this wouldn’t be such a big deal, except Joseph Wild is now a world famous Rock Star and Kate hasn’t seen or spoken to him in 15 years.

To embarrass her further, instead of ignoring her random phone call, he shows up on her front door.

A quick romance turns into family drama and Joe finds himself torn between Kate and his daughter. Choosing the obvious, Kate is unsure if she will ever see her lover again.

While Joe Wild, definitely was not the stereo typical rock star. I couldn’t bring myself to like or be attracted to him. It could have been the fact that his name so dreadfully reminded me of Joe Exotic which was not painting a pretty picture for a second chance romance with an HEA.

Or it could have just been the simple fact that a rock star is kind of meant to be the epitome of its definition and I kind of missed the sex, drugs and rock n roll. He could have at least had a dark and sordid past which would make him broken and screaming to be fixed.

I do understand what Ms. Bennet intended, she wanted to show Kate there was more to Joe than just leather pants and loud guitars, but what she created was an old, needy man who preferred to sail his boat and eat pot pies.

His ex-wife on the other hand was a force to be reckoned with and I can say with certainly that I very much enjoyed her character.

Overall, this was a cozy read that was very much enjoyable.

Cute contemporary romance featuring two childhood best friends who haven't seen each other in years. Joe's now a rock star, and Emma, recently divorced, runs a business in the English countryside. I liked both Emma and Joe (despite his definite lack of trust at one point towards the end), and especially liked how they prioritized their young children.

A Nice Holiday Read

Newly divorced Kate is not looking for love, she just wants to get on with her life with her small son Charlie, but when she reads that a teenage crush has ended his relationship she just sends a simple text of support, but her life changes forever. This is a nice romance to read while on holiday, or just on a weekend. It was predictable, but that did not spoil the story for me at all.

A perfect holiday read

Just as Kate is coming to terms with her amicabl divorce, a spontaneous action brings an old friend into her life. Friendship and support turns into much more and the complications of ‘exs’ threaten.
Easy to read and with a fair pace, this ideal for reading in the sunshine with a glass of wine.

Disappointing read…bummer!

The blurb made it sound like this was going to be a terrific read…but boy was i disappointed! The storyline was weak; the characters even weaker; the plot was just sort of meh; and the HEA was the only thing even remotely appealing. This one just didn’t do it for me!

Her constant self-doubts became wearying. I finished the book, but I did start skimming over the second-guessing and reiterations of unworthiness. The structure was there for a light, enjoyable HEA romance, but the words got in the way.

not sure

I read about a third or more, then skipped a third, read a bit and skipped to the ending chapter, don’t feel as if I missed any great story, ending of course was inevitable.

I kept waiting for more

I kept waiting for more to happen. It just felt not right. Yes it’s sweet and yes it’s happy ever after. But I just wanted more. It’s very superficial in the storytelling. I don’t know, I just feel off finishing it. It not bad though.

This is the second book I’ve read by this author and I thoroughly enjoy her story’s
This one was a lovely sweet second chance romance with a few twist and turns along the way it would’ve been nice to have had an epilogue a little bit into the future.

Good romance with just right amount of angst

Wondered at the beginning how was it going to flow, but it became a comfortable read. Loved the descriptions of area and the comfortable life she had created with her son. Some nice surprises. Enjoy!
