A pleasant day at the lake turns ominous when Jack Dunn and his wife, Martha Healey, find a body on the beach. Circumstances surround the current death are similar to one that happened thirty years ago in the same location. Did someone get away with murder? Twice?
As they are reluctantly drawn further into the mystery, complicated friendships and secrets from the past place Jack and Marty in danger.
Will they be able to untangle the web of lies before the killer makes the final move.
Maggie McChristie was born and raised in Colorado. After sojourns in New Mexico, Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, North Carolina, and Tennessee, she now lives with her husband in the lovely town of DeLand, Florida. Maggie spends her time reading, writing, playing the piano (poorly), gardening, cooking, and attempting to speak Scottish Gaelic (again, poorly). She has always admired authors and finally decided to become one herself.
Intereresting, love story, mystery, death and puzzles
Jack and Marty are so perfect for each other. And Jack is possessed to solve crimes regardless how much the sheriff wants him to stay out of the way. There are the dangerous as well as the funny complications. And we can't forget all the red herrings and rabbit holes we end up going down This book was great and I'm ready for the next one.
Great characters! A complicated web of lies, disturbing memories from the past, and present day threats put Jack and Marty in danger. The subplot blends nicely with the main mystery and leads to a surprising conclusion. This book has well-written characters and a complex mystery that kept me guessing til the end! Highly recommended!
A fun, intelligent, and complex follow-up to All’s Well That Ends, involving murders decades apart. Deception and lies abound, keeping the reader guessing to the end. Maggie McChristie knows how to tell a story that grabs you from the beginning and doesn’t let go!
This is the second book in a series. The first book — All’s Well That Ends — introduces us to Jack Dunn, a freelance writer and struggling novelist, and his wife, Martha Healey. In A Midsummer Night’s Murder, Jack and Marty find a body on the beach. A reunion with friends reveals connections to another death. The past is about to catch up. These books are perfect for readers who enjoy a multilayered mystery with clever conversation, engaging characters, humor, and a dash of romance.
