This is a great book for young readers, this book also has an obvious message that Fran is a class bully, she thinks she's the boss and the best at everything. Fran also happens to have a new puppy at home who shes trying to teach her puppy some manners. As the book progresses Fran decides to change her behavior for the best, allowing for this book to also have a great message for young readers.

This has a very obvious message--especially with the dog as uncontrollable as the kid--but it's tolerable. Fran realizes she's a bully and takes steps on her own to change her ways. I do wish that her mother did more than sigh that she wishes Fran would behave--doesn't SHE realize that she's raised a bully?--but at least Fran figures it out.
Pat and preachy, but it's a short read and has appealing jacket art, so it will get read.

Nine-year-old Fran has a bit of a bullying problem. She things she is the boss of and the best at everything! This causes lots of trouble at school. This year might be different. There is a third-grade play and Fran wants to be the lead princess in the play. However, her behavior may get her kicked out of the play.
Just like her dog, Hercules, Fran must learn obedience or lose her part in the play.

Fran is a bright, but obnoxious bully of a third grader, who doesn't understand why no one likes her. Through a desire to get and keep the starring role in the school play, befriend a kindergartener, and train her puppy (so Mom doesn't get rid of it) she modifies her behavior. And they all live happily ever after. Radically oversimplifies dog training and behavior modification, but is an okay beginning chapter book.

Bad behavior in puppies and little girls is discussed in this story. Fran is the class bully at school and has a new puppy at home named Hercules. Hercules needs to go the puppy kindergarten to learn some manners and Fran decides to change her behavior for the better as well. This is an engaging story that also teaches social skills.

Entertaining book about a young girl named Fran and her rowdy dog Hercules. Go along with Fran and Hercules to "Puppy Kindergarten" and Fran's attempt to maintain her part in the school play as "Princess Penelope". My 6 year old daughter thought this book was really funny.

This book was pretty good for a young kids book. My kids both enjoyed it, but I appreciated how the main character Fran was a flawed character. Sometimes with these types of books, you get bland characters.

A good book for younger chapter book readers. Fran realizes that her rambunctious behavior is viewed as bullying from the other children in her school.

3/4 Battle Book. FAST read, story about a girl who is a bully and how she comes to realize it.
