A thorough revision of the classic tutorial of scientific and engineering mathematics. For more than fifteen years, Mastering Technical Mathematics has been the definitive self-teaching guide for those wishing to boost their career by learning the principles of mathematics as they apply to science andengineering. Featuring the same user-friendly pedagogy, practical examples, and detailed illustrations that have made this resource a favorite of the scientific and technical communities, the new third edition delivers four entirely new chapters and expanded treatment of cutting-edge topics.
The book claims to be one of a kind in the way it presents its information and I would have to agree. It is very effective in jumping in to any domain of mathmatics and within a few pages, you are understanding it and applying it.
I wish they would go ahead and cover more mathmatical theories.
I have the 2007 edition and it's horrible. The writing is confusing for both the text and questions. Also, the layout could be much improved. In the 21st century graphic design is a professional and advanced field, but this edition's images are more representative of self-published works. I also suspect there are errors in some of the later chapters answers but am not confident enough to note them all here. (I am working through the text with access to Mathematica 11.) Hopefully later editions have improved. I gave it two stars because it is comprehensive and I have used it extensively–but only because I can't find a better option for self-directed learning. (Another frustration but can't take stars away for something that's a personal preference.)
