The revealing story of an idealistic ex-Peace Corps volunteer and his ventures into Charismatic capitalism ending with spiritual discoveries on a mountain top in Chile.
I thought this was well written and really helped me feel how people get swept away in this kind of “business” model.
It was a little difficult to read in that it made me sick to my stomach knowing all of these people wouldn’t make any money and would only lose money. I did get a lot of second hand stress whenever the author spoke about the financial pressures he was under.
These are such flimsy reasons for losing a star, but I had two reason.
1- I wished it had been written with more time in between him leaving so I could see that he was doing better finically since that had really stressed me out.
2- I had hoped for a little bit of a conclusion at the end- this kind of “business” practice is inappropriate, illegal, or here’s how you can keep yourself safe, etc.
