من لديه شغف بعلم الكونيات
والترابط بين الأديان والفلسفة والعلوم الحديثة
ويعشق المحاورات والتساؤلات عن أصل الكون وحقيقة الأديان
وغيرها من الأمور المصيرية الآخرى
ومن هو مغرم بغوستاين من الأساس
أرشح له هذه الرواية بالتأكيد
افترق شخصان متحابان لأنهما كل منهما رأى الكون بعين غير التي للآخر
وكعادة جوستاين في أكثر من رواية
(هو لا يغير تكنيكه الروائي كثيرا مما يتسبب في ملل البعص)
تكون الخطابات هي مفتاح فهمنا لتلك العلاقة الغريبة
العاشقان المنفصلان كلاهما عالم
وافتراقهما جاء نتيجة لحادثة غريبة
ومنذ وقوعها يتخذ كل منهما طريقا غير الآخر
تختار سولرن طريق الإيمان وتجد فيه راحتها وملاذها
ويختار ستاين طريق المادة رافضا بشدة الإيمان سوى بالعلم وبكل شيء يستطيع إمساكه بيديه
في رأيي أن الشخصين معا ربما يعبران عن الكينونة المزدوجة
الانسان المعاصر/لغوستاين
عن حيرته بين روحه التي تهيم بين المخلوقات الخرافية وتحاول التشبث بالإيمان بكل ما هو غير مادي
وبين عقله الذي يتبع المادة رغما عنه

غاردنر والرواية اللعبة
من المذهل كيف يلعب غاردنر بمهارة في تطويع القالب الروائي ليتناسب مع أفكاره الفلسفية ..يسردها دون أي ملل ولا كلل ولا إرهاق لعقل القارىء بل إن القالب الروائي يجعلك تتلذذ بالفلسفة التي عادة ما تكون ثقيلة وعميقة ويصعب على العقل أن يستوعبها ببساطة إلا لعشاقها بطبيعة الحال ، إن فكرة اختيار الرسائل المتبادلة كتبادل للأفكار يبدو لي أسلوبا بديعا يخوضه غاردنر لأول مرة في نص روائي إن اللجوء لأدب الرسائل في هذا النص جاء مناسبا تماما للقصة على الرغم من غرابة الشخصيتين فلا يمكن بأي حال من الأحوال أن تتخيل وأنت الإنسان الطبيعي الذي تقوم كل يوم صباحا لتذهب إلى عملك وتعود منهكا لتلقي بنفسك على أقرب كرسي أنت الإنسان العادي أن يكون هناك شخصان يتناقشان بهذه الجدية وهذا العمق كعالمين متخصصين في الفيزياء وفي ماهية الروح والإنفجار الكوني عوضا عن هذا هما عاشقين سابقين .. لكن في أدب غاردنر ذلك لا يهم كثيرا لأن غاردنر يكتب الرواية لأجل الفلسفة .. كما إن الرسائل المتبادلة بين سولرن وستاين جاءت بالبريد الإلكتروني كدليلا مشرفا على قدرة غاردنر على أن يكون قريبا من روح العصر
يعتمد النص على شخصيتين أنثى وذكر وكان طبيعيا أن تمثل المرأة الجانب الروحي والمعتقد والإيمان بالخرافة بينما ستاين جسد العقلانية بكافة صورها وساعده عمله كأستاذ جامعة غير إنني سمحت لتفكيري أن يقلب الآية وأقول ماذا لو كانت المرأة هي العقل والرجل روحاني كيف كانت ستمضي الرواية كم كانت ستختلف الشخصيات كيف ستكون حدة الصراع بينهما لكن للأسف هذه مجرد خيالاتي المجنونة والتي كانت ستغير إيقاع الرواية ربما لوجهة أخرى لم تخطر على بال صديقنا غاردنر حسنا سأجعل مني بطلة بينما غاردنر هو البطل هنا :)
إن شخصية سولرن كانت قوية بإيمانها لديها القدرة على أن تجعل نفسها سعيدة فالإيمان إطمئنان وسعادة لكن هناك جانب مشكك يقبع في سولرن وإن لم تظهره وإن حاولت أن تكون ممتلئة بالقوة في رسائلها لستاين وسخريتها من عقلانيته التي أطاحت بعلاقتهما ، الجزء الأول كان كاشفا عن العلاقة بين شخصان على طرفي نقيض في التفكير سولرن وستاين بينما جاء الجزء الثاني عاصفا بالحدث مثيرا للتشويق والتشكيك في آن واحد وأخيرا الجزء الثالث المفاجأة التي تشبه سقطة على الأرض تخيل نفسك تجلس على كرسي مطمئن تخيل إنك تقرأ وإن شخصا ما جاء من ورائك دون أن تشعر به ليسحب الكرسي من تحتك .. النهاية تحدث مثل هذه السقطة تماما ..
النص أشبه بمبارزة فكرية ما بين العقلانية والروحانية ما بين المادة والمعتقد ، يطرح فيه غاردنر العديد من الأفكار ومابين السقوط في الهلوسة أو تأثيرات خارجية كالشراب أو المخدر أو ما بين ظهور الأشباح أو الأرواح ستفكر ربما في الطريقة التي ينظر بها الآخر لبعض الأمور وستحترمها أيا ما كانت وهنا لن نتصارع مع غاردنر بالطبع ! و ربما سنفكر أن بعض الأشياء الغير مرئية قد لا تعني عدم وجودها وربما العكس تماما ستخترقنا العديد من الأفكار وتعصف بنا ما بين قلة الوعي واليقظة الشديدة ومسائل الروح وما بين اليقين والشك سيمضي القارب ويختار طريقه ..

الجدلية القديمة بين الصدفة والقدر، بين العلم والدين، بين الإيمان بالما وراء والإيمان باللا وراء.. غاردر يغرف من سؤال الوجود مباشرة وهذه بالتأكيد رواية جميلة ومضنية.

Great idea, but only a solid execution. From the first until the last page, I expected something exciting and I have never got it. Maybe I sound a bit cynical, but the way the book is written, I don't see how I could care about Sulrun and Steinn's relationship. Their bond seems platonic, so I've got no reason to be invested in it.
An unexpected encounter triggers a series of e-mails between former lovers. They reminiscence about their past relationship and debate about fundamental philosophical questions and differences between them. They discuss God, the existence of a soul, paranormal experiences, while at the same time remembering their last trip which had broken them apart. Throughout the e-mail conversations, they tenderly circle around the very reason for their break up, but never quite openly talk about it. Steinn and Sulrun stand for two completely different worldviews, and in the end, neither the philosophical nor the narrative mystery is solved, and both are left hanging. Of course, the end isn't even nearly satisfying.
It's always a bit problematic to talk about the everlasting discussion between people who believe in science and religious people. I can't decide whether Gaarder went too harsh on his characters or if he didn't dig into the analysis enough. Sulrun and Steinn kept on coming back and forth from totally ignoring each other's opinions to ruthless attempts of persuasion without considering feelings of one another.
I can't say I grew to like either of the characters, but Steinn was definitely worse among the two of them. It may seem a bit weird since I agree with most of his monologues, but in spite of it, I was so irritated by his indifference of other people's beliefs. If he expects other people to respect his viewpoint, it has to go both ways. At times, it looks like he has double standards.
Unlike most of the books I read, in this one I like female protagonist better. I can't say I support even the smaller part of her monologues, but I understand her point of view and how she only wanted for Steinn to ACCEPT it instead of only tolerate it. She's a fragile and emotional dreamer, full of warmth.
I thought their e-mail exchange would be a bit more intimate. Their debates over religion were the most boring part of the plot. I felt like most of the text was only a filler, supposed to delay the bits I was the most interested in. They happen to be so absorbed in their past they forget to pay attention to their present and they even lie to their families. They have completely conflicting world views and it gets frustrating at times. Steinn is a scientific realist and Sulrun is a spiritual religious woman who believes in paranormal. This all makes a good base for an interesting debate that surounds issues of their relationship, but in the end we know very little about their past relationship.

من از کتاب هایی که توش صدای نویسنده اینقدر بلند باشه که صدای کاراکتر ها رو بپوشونه متنفرم..و صدای یاستین گاردر مثل بوق کشتی میمونه..
در واقع گاردر یه نویسنده نیست..اصلا نمیتونه یه داستان بنویسه..و کتاباش تنها قالبی ان برای به زور خوراندن حرف هاش به دهان خواننده..مثل یه داروی بد مزه که بی فایده هم هست..
شخصیت پردازی اینقدر ضعیفه که میشه تصور کرد شخصیتی وجود نداره..نویسنده فقط پشت سر هم حرف میزنه و تمام طول کتاب فقط میخوای که تمام شه..
و در نهایت دراما بی مورد و بد نشست یی که حتی برای تیینیجر های 13ساله هم چرته..
قطعا اخرین کتابی که از گاردر میخونم..

Não sei porque tenho este livro, deve ter vindo de oferta com algum outro que comprei. Peguei nele porque estava à mão e precisava dum livro leve para levar comigo. Isto para explicar que não tinha qualquer razão especial para o ler - e, na verdade, acabou por ser uma perda de tempo.
Todo o livro é composto por uma troca de e-mails entre dois antigos namorados que se reencontraram recentemente por acaso (ou talvez não, na opinião dela) após 30 anos e tudo me soou muito artificial - ou então é porque os noruegueses são mesmo assim...
Devido a um acontecimento vivido por ambos 30 anos atrás, ela passou a crer no mundo espiritual e na vida após a morte e tornou-se cristã. Ele é um cientista que não aceita essa visão e as suas mensagens, sobretudo na primeira parte do livro, acabam por ser palestras sobre o começo do universo e a evolução da vida na Terra, tudo muito científico, para contrapor às opiniões dela.
Não me agradou e não recomendo.
I don't know why I own this book, it must have been a promotion sent by the book store. I picked it up because it was at hand and I needed a light book to carry with me. All this to explain that I had no special reason to read it - and, in fact, it turned out to be a waste of time.
The whole book is composed by an exchange of e-mails between two former lovers that had recently met by chance (or maybe not, in her opinion) after 30 years. It all sounded too artificial - or maybe that's how the norwegian people are...
Due to an event they both experienced 30 years before, she started to believe in the spiritual world and in life after death and became a Christian. He is a scientist who doesn't accept that vision and his messages, specially in the first part of the book, seem like lectures about the beginning of the universe and the evolution of life on Earth, all very scientific, to counter her opinions.
I didn't like it and I don't recommend it.

سأبدأ بالملخص المطبوع على الغلاف الخلفي للرواية (بعد فراق دام ثلاثين سنة يلتقي ستاين وسولرن في المكان الذي شهد أروع أيامهما معًا وأشدها إيلامًا. فهل جاء هذا اللقاء، في ذلك المكان وذلك الزمان بالتحديد محض صدفة أم كانت هناك قوى خفية تقف وراءه؟ وهل رسم لهما هذا اللقاء خطوط بداية جديدة أم نهاية غير متوقعة؟
يحملنا جوستاين غاردر، مرة أخرى بعد "عالم صوفي“، على أجنحة رواية إبداعية تجمع بين الحب والفلسفة والعلم في رحلة فكرية تأخذ مجراها عبر آفاق رسائل إلكترونية يتبادلها الأبطال. ومثل قلعة البيرينيه في لوحة الفنان ”ماغرت“ التي تتوج صخرة عائمة في الفراغ فوق البحر، يتركنا غاردر نسبح وحدنا في الهواء على صهوة جملةٍ من علامات الاستفهام التي تتمحور حول طبيعة وجودنا ومكانة وعينا في هذا الكون، على أمل أن يعثر كل منّا على الأجوبة التي يمليها عليه حدسه).
يتلقي الحبيبان السابقان ستاين وسولرن بعد فراق امتد ٣٠ عامًا. تصر هي أن لقائهما لم يتم بمحض الصدفة وأن القدر جمعهما لحكمة ما، يختلف هو معها، يداهمهما الوقت. يقررا أن يكملا نقاشهما عبر البريد الإلكتروني ويتفقا على مسح كل الرسائل بعد قراءتها مباشرة. ترسل له (إنك لطالما رفضت كل ما يدعى "الظواهر الخارقة للطبيعة"، بينت أنك لا تؤمن بتوارد الخواطر، أو بأي صيغة من الاستبصار أو الكشف الغيبي، وأدليت بذلك التأكيد الجازم حتي بعد أن أعطيتك بعض الأمثلة الممتازة عن تلك الظواهر وأنا أعزو هذه المسألة في حالتك إلى امتناعك عن استعمال مجسات الإشعار التي لديك، وإبقاء الغمامات على عينيك، وربما أنت في الحقيقة لا تميز أنك أحيانا تستقبل الأشياء معتقدا أنها نفحات من وحيك الخاص وأنت لست وحدك يا ستاين. فزمننا فيه الكثير من العمى النفسي، والكثير من الفقر الروحي).
يجيبها (أنا الآن كما كنتِ أنتِ في الماضي تمامًا؛ مشغول بالعالم لُغزًا أكثر مما أن مشغول بالألغاز التي في العالم. مشغول بالطبيعي أكثر مما أنا مشغول بما فوق الطبيعي. وأري أن دماغ الإنسان المستغلق على الفهم أكثر إدهاشا من كل تلك الحكايات المفككة عما يسمونه "ما فوق الحسي“.)
يحاول كل واحد منهما أن يقنع الآخر بوجهة نظره. يستمران في تبادل الرسائل الإلكترونية والأراء. يستعيدان أيامهما الجميلة معًا (كثيرًا ما قمنا بجولات في المعارض والحفلات الموسيقية لا من أجل الفن أو الموسيقي بالتحديد، ولكن لنتأمل جميع الدمى الحية. وأطلقنا على ذلك كله اسم المسرح السحري جاء هذا بعد أن قرأنا ذئب السهوب لـ هيرمان هيسه). ويتطرقان للتجربة الغريبة التي خاضاها معًا حين التقيا بالمرأة العنبية الغامضة، التي قالت لهما جملة واحدة فقط، لكن كل واحد منهما سمعها تقول جملة مختلفة تماما عما سمعه الآخر. هي سمعتها تقول لها (أنتِ من كنتها، وأنا من ستكونينها) بينما هو سمعها تقول له (كان ينبغي أن تُغرم مخالفة بتجاوز السرعة يا فتاي).
بعد تلك التجربة يصلا إلى نقطة اللاعودة في علاقتهما، تصارحه (هنا كمنت الفجوة العميقة بيننا. الاستنتاجات التي استخلصتها مما اختبرناه اختلفت كثير ًا عن استنتاجاتك. وهذا ما جعل بقاءنا معًا مستحيلاً).
يصارحها بالحزن الرهيب الذي أصابه بعدما افترقا وخاصة عندما طلبت منه أن يحزم أمتعتها ويرسلها لها. ويحكي لها (سمعت مرة عن حكاية زوجين أرادا الانفصال. أجمعا على أن الانفصال هو أفضل خطوة يقدمان عليها وبروح تعاونية أخذا يقسمان كل ما لديهما من كتب. وسرعان ما تبينا أن أي كتاب يريد أحدهما الاحتفاظ به، هو الكتاب الذي يرغب الاخر بشدة في الحصول عليه. تكررت هذه الحالة مع المزيد من الكتب التي حاولا اقتسامها، ثم إذا بهما ينغمسان في مناقشة بعض الأعمال الواردة في تلك الكتب، واكتشفا أنهما أكثر تناغما من أن يفترقا. ما زالا إلى اليوم معا، وهما ينظران إلى ماوقف وراء تخطيطهما للفراق أنه مرحلة ثانوية لا قيمة لها أبدا). يتفق ستاين وسولرن على اللقاء وجه لوجه، تأخذ الأحداث منعطفًا جديدًا. ويعيد ستاين تقييم أفكاره.
أعطى الكاتب كل شخصية مساحة كافية للتعبير عن رأييها وشرحه بالتفصيل، لكن بعض المعلومات العلمية التي أوردها ستاين في رسائله كانت كثيرة ومعقدة، كأنها جزء من بحث علمي وليس رواية. أثقلت السرد واحتلت عشرات الصفحات. ولم تضف شيئا للحجج التي ذكرها في رسائله الأخرى.
خلاصة
ستاين وسولرن حبيبان، جمعهما القلب وفرقهما العقل. لم يصمد حبهما أمام تحدي الاحتلاف العقائدي الذي واجهه. وهو تحدٍ يعيشه كل إنسان بطريقة أو بأخرى. لأنه لا توجد فكرة واحدة أجمع الناس على قبولها. إذن اختلاف الناس واقع لا يمكن إنكاره أو تغيره. فلابد من تقبله واحترامه والتعايش معه بسلام.

interesting debate between science and religion. It is done by two ex-lovers who share emails after a strange encounter many years after breaking up. They have completely conflicting world views; one has a science naturalistic metaphyisic,the other a spiritual religious. This all make for a good debate that surounds issues and events of thier relationship and the interpretation of those events. It all makes for a strange twist at the end.
This is worth a read if you are interested in philosophy, religion and science debate. If not do not bother reading this book, it will probably bore you. the frist half of this book focuses on those concepts; only second half makes more of the story. Great ending though.

كل ما استطيع قوله ، نهاية مذهلة !
كحلم جميل استيقظت منه !
في غمرة ذهولي ، كيف حدث مثل هذا !
لن استرسل في خاتمة الكتاب، ستكون مراجعتي غير عادلة قطعًا !
الفكرة كانت مذهلة ،
رواية تقوم على تراسل بين شخصين ، أو شريكين تحديدًا ، بعد انقطاع دام 30 سنة !
انقطاع حدث بعد أحداث خاضاها معًا !
الفكرة منذ بدايتها توحي بالكثير !

لابد من مقاطع تهزني بدرجة عميقة ، وتجعلني أتوقف للتفكير والتأمل !
لابد من قراءة كتب كهذا ، تضيف لك وتحثك على التفكير بشكل مختلف بأسلوب رائع ومختلف،
لابد أن تقرأوا كتب غاردر !

اااخ يا غاردر
لم اشعر بمثل هذا الاندماج مع اي رواية اخرى
لم اتوقع أبدا ان رواية ما تستطيع ان تدمع عيناك
اردت كتابة مراجعة من العيار الثقيل لكني سأكتفي بتوصيتها
حين انتهيت من الرواية تذكرت على الفور الوعد الذي قطعه البطلان : "أيمكننا أن نتعاهد بصدق على حذف الرسائل الالكترونية التي نتبادلها بعد الانتهاء من قرائتها؟ أعني حذفها مباشرة في الحين والساعة، ما يعني حتماً عدم طباعة أي منها. إن تواصلنا هذا أشبه بدفق فكري يتذبذب بين روحين، وليس مجرد تبادل رسائل تبقى بيننا إلى الأبد"ـ
شكرًا يا غاردر على هذه الرواية الرائعة

لا تتوقع عالم صوفي اخر و لا تنصب للكاتب مشنقة عالم صوفي وتحاكمه عليها
جوستيان غرديار فيلسوف قبل ان يكون روائي يجيد تبسيط المسأل الفلسفية
عن الخلق ولحظة الانفجار العظيم و وعي العالم كان يمكن اختصار الكتاب في ربع عدد صفحاته لست من هواة الرومانسية و رسائل الذكريات يبدوا انه سبب في جعل بعض اجزاء الرواية ثقيل الظل علي قلبي

داستان ِ تقابل دو باور، دو دید کاملاً متفاوت نسبت به جهان، زندگی، و معنای مرگ. مثل باقی آثار گاردر، این تقابل در قالب داستانی معماگونه مطرح شده و این بار، داستان دو عاشق...
البته این رو بگم که نیمهی اول کم کم داشت ناامیدم میکرد ولی از زمانی که حل
معما آغاز شد دیگه کتاب رو زمین نگذاشتم؛ هر چی بیشتر خوندم مجذوبتر شدم و یک بار دیگه از یاستین گاردر خواندن راضی ام!

To put it simply: I would describe this as a wonderful love story peppered with philosophical discussions on spirituality (and maybe religion) and science.
When I first started reading this, I was rather put off by it, as it was seemingly a really random thread of emails between two people. However, as I went on, I felt more and more excited about it, and almost felt as if I were intruding on an intimate conversation.
The book deals with two people whose views on the world are "on opposite poles". One believes more on spirituality, while the other on scientific facts. It also breathes to life a story of ex-lovers, especially on their differences and what drove them apart from one another.
I was really really saddened by the ending. One can almost guess it, but I felt really saddened by it, nevertheless :(

Давно не читала Ґордера. майже забула про його існування. поки не приїхала додому та знайшла цю книгу. згадала, що купувала її на Форумі видавців у Львові 2009 року, коли Ґордер приїздив до Львова. книга з автографом, але чомусь я тоді так її й не прочитала. шкода, бо тоді вона б точно сподобалась мені більше. «замок в Піренеях» добре дає відчути, що Ґордер насамперед філософ. а ще - романтик.
перша частина книги мені нагадувала лекцію з фізики-філософії, загнану в форму роману, але друга частина таки реабілітувала книгу в моїх очах. досить цікаво закрутив. кінець доволі неочікуваний. автор піднімає вічні питання: хто така людина, що таке життя, що таке свідомість, що таке душа? конфлікт матеріального і духовного. і все це приперчене ноткою містичності.
перша частина книги мені нагадувала лекцію з фізики-філософії, загнану в форму роману, але друга частина таки реабілітувала книгу в моїх очах. досить цікаво закрутив. кінець доволі неочікуваний. автор піднімає вічні питання: хто така людина, що таке життя, що таке свідомість, що таке душа? конфлікт матеріального і духовного. і все це приперчене ноткою містичності.

"The Castle in the Pyrenees" talks about a Norwegian couple who had a love affair years ago and then split up after a tragic incident. Years later they meet again and decide to exchange emails to talk about their beliefs and about what happened all those years ago.
To anticipate the following review, I've given this novel two stars based on the fact that I've read it completely, and, if not much more, it gave me an opportunity to think about what I believe in and create a stronger position for myself.
I liked the idea of including Magritte's painting "The Castle in the Pyrenees" into the background story of the two characters; their different reaction to it was certainly interesting, and I do see the general connection to the story. But the fact that I had a completely different reaction than either of them to the painting when I looked at it should have told me that there would not be too much for me within this book.
To me, there are three key points which bug me.
First are the characters themselves. While the man seems believable, if a litte boring, and is openly admiring his lost love - and open to a debate - the woman certainly is not. She is completely contradictory in her actions, all the while mentioning her blissful family and husband even when she's openly flirting. I remember thinking "I hope I don't act like that; that would be horrible".
With him being a bit boring and her being inconsistent, a change within their relationship is hardly noticeable over the course of the email-exchange, and when it happens, it was completely unbelievable for me.
The following part is marked as a spoiler because I comment on their discussions. No quotes, nor anything about their story, just general comments, but I wanted to make sure no one reads anything they don't want to.
I'm particularly sad because I've read Gaarder's other books. This held no enchanting moments for me at all. Maybe the one that I'm grateful I've read his other books first. Otherwise I may never have read them, and that would have been a shame.

كنت متأكدة أن لدى ( غاردر ) ما يكتبه لنا في نهاية كل شيء ، كنت متأكدة بأن لديه شيئاً يفاجئنا به وأنه لن يبقي على الرتابة أبداً لوقت طويل ، وأن لديه مفاجأة صغيرة لنا كقراء .
لكن غاردر فاق كل توقعاتي و جعلني أذعن بأنه قادر على إبهاري بالطريقة نفسها التي فعلها من قبل في ( عالم صوفي ) .
لم أستطع بعد استيعاب السبب وراء النهايات التي تسهم في قلب الأمور وقلب رأيي أيضاً مؤخراً في الروايات التي أقرأها ، لست حزينة أبداً ، أنا سعيدة لأن كتبي تفوقت عليّ
ستاين وسولرن وبيتر نيلز الذي لم أكن أشفق عليه أبداً ، لشعوري بكثير من التواطئ مع العلاقة الجميلة والثنائي الإستثنائي الذي يشكله كلاهما معاً . حتى مع أنهما على طرفيّ نقيض إلا أنهما مكملان لبعضهما ، دون أن يدركا هذا ، الروح والمادة متلازمان لا ينفصلان يا ستاين وسولرن ، المعادلة بسيطة جداً لكنها صعبة الإدراك :)

ثاني عمل أقرأه لجوستاين غاردر بعد عالم صوفي، وكعالم صوفي يستخدم غاردر القالب الروائي في شرح أمور علمية وفلسفية، وذلك عبر الحوار بين الشخصيات.
القصة في هذا العمل هي عن رجل خمسيني يدعى ستاين التقى بعد ثلاثين سنة بحبيبته السابقة سولرن بالصدفة أو بالقدر في المكان الذي كان سببا في افتراقهما، ويقرران كتابة رسائل الكترونية لبعضهما البعض، ومن خلال تلك الرسائل نفهم طبيعة علاقتها السابقة والاختلاف الكبير بين تفكيرهما، فستاين ينزح للتفكير المادي العقلي أما سولرن كانت إمرأة مؤمنة تعتقد بوجود أرواح وأمور خارقة للطبيعة، ويحاول كل منهما حتى بعد ثلاثين سنة تفسير ظاهرة غريبة وقعت لهما مع المرأة العنبية.

الآن وبعد أن أنهيت قراءة رائعة أخرى من روائع جوستاين غاردر، كل ما أشعر به هو الدوار، ألم في عقلي، حزن يعتريني كلما أيقنت بأن معرفتنا نحن البشر ضئيلة جدًا، كل ما أريده الآن هو إيقاف عقلي عن حالة الإضطراب التي يتركني عليها هذا الكاتب للمرة الثانية ، الأولى كانت مع عالم صوفي وهذه الثانية، أنصح بقراءة هذا الكتاب وبشدة.

"The castle in the Pyrenees" is classical Gaarder. The old recipe popularized with "Sophie's world" is revived here. However, the format is different - here we've got epistolary novel, composed carefully through the correspondence of the protagonists, Solrun and Steinn.
As you might expect, the novel consists of multiple layers which are merged together to form a single story. A sudden encounter in the present triggers a series of emails between former lovers. They spend their time reminiscing about their past together, but also debating about fundamental philosophical questions. They discuss a variety of topics - God, the existence of soul, paranormal phenomena - while in the same time tenderly remembering the time they spent together, and then balancing (more or less successfully) their life in the present.
The premise of the novel is interesting and the blurb promises very much. I enjoyed reading about Solrun's and Steinn's past relationship. It's quite obvious that they still have a thing for each other, even though they both have spouses and families of their own. I'm also glad that Gaarder was tasteful with the romantic thread of the story, and had not let it to take over the steering wheel of the novel, so to speak. Many authors would have been tempted to play up the love affair aspect, but keeping it subtle earned my nod of respect. Somehow, Gaarder managed to compose the book is such a skillful way that only in the last third we begin to learn the cause of the schism between a couple whose love seemed unbreakable. Because of my inflamed curiosity, I couldn't stop reading the book. It's a real pageturner.
Now, these were reedeming qualities of the book, but they haven't completely managed to erase some things that haven't worked out for me. I found Steinn's and Solrun's discussions on evolution, and explaining their spiritual/scientific points of view cloying at times. Their debates were the most boring subplot of the novel. Don't get me wrong, I love philosophy in books, but done in moderation. I felt like most of that text was a filler, supposed to delay the bits I was most interested in.
The strong point of the novel - the slow unraveling of the mystery behind the break-up - was also a weak point, given the format of the novel. I love epistolary novels, but it takes lots of consideration and skill to make them believable to the reader. Here, it's just not passable that one person remembers so little that the other person has to describe in great detail some events that they had experienced together. Even though it's painful for the protagonists to recall the events tied to the mysterious Lingonberry woman, it's still rather phony that they beat around the bush so much. I mean, they both experienced those events together, and one would expect that, after all those years, Steinn and Solrun would be able to discuss things openly. Moreover, they don't talk about their present life very much, especially not Steinn. They happen to be so immersed in their past an each other that they neglect their duties and even lie to their families. For me, that's not convincing. There should be odd bits and pieces in their letters that describe some of their present interests (that don't involve science or religion), a larger mention of their children... something other than their involvment with each other. I'm afraid that, for the purpose of this story, another format would have been more suitable.
In my opinion, the idea for this novel is great, but it's not executed as well as some other Gaarder novels. Thus the three stars.

Sebenarnya kalau boleh jujur buku ini salah satu karya Jostein Gaarder yang menurut saya biasa saja bahkan terlalu filosofis dalamnya lebih kayak perdebatan antara dua orang mengenai penciptaan manusia dan penciptaan alam semesta ini
Bagaimana manusia bisa ada? Gimana tercipta alam semesta? Diskusi yang membuat pikiran saya jadi njelimet ketika membaca buku ini.. dan ada beberapa hal yang rasanya saya ingin menyanggah dari beberapa pendapat Stein dibuku ini
Saya percaya bahwa ada tangan Tuhan yang berkorelasi dengan itu semua. Didalam agama Islam jelas dikatakan Sains dan agama adalah suatu hal yang tidak terpisahkan. Apakah kamu bisa merasakan adanya listrik dan angin disekitarmu? Itulah Tuhan sesuatu yang kita rasakan ada di sekitar kita tapi tidak kasat mata
Bacalah mengenai penciptaan manusia di Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Mukminun ayat 14 disitu sudah jelas diceritakan. Masalah soal penciptaan langit dan bumi juga dibahas di Surah As Sajadah ayat 3 lalu Al-Baqarah ayat 29
"....Dan di bumi itu terdapat tanda-tanda (kekuasaan Allah SWT) bagi orang-orang yang yakin dan (juga) pada dirimu sendiri. Maka apakah kamu tidak memperhatikan?' (Q.S Adz Dzaariyaat : 20-21)

روح یا هشیاری.. انرژی یا وحی.. مرگ یا ابدیت..
اگه آدمی هستید که همیشه تو ذهنتون کلی سوال های متناقض دارید و به همه چی شک می کنید و خیلی وقتا تو تنهاییِ خودتون مکالمه های طولانی ای بین خودتون و خودتون رد و بدل می کنید، پس به سختی می تونید این کتاب رو بخونید..
شخصیت پردازی، غافلگیری، تصویرسازی و ... تا حدِ خیلی خوبی کامل و مشخص بود. و تنها مشکلی که با این داستان داشتم این بود که ذهنِ من دقیقا به جای دو نفرِ اصلی این رمان همیشه در حالِ فکر راجع به موضوعات مطرح شده تو کتابه و خوندن فکرهای خودم کمی موجب over thinking شد ولی با همه اینا ارزش داشت که به انتها برسونم کتابو.. پایانی بسیار عالی داشت و همچنان پرونده چراها و سوال هارو باز گذاشت..
واقعا دنیایِ پس از مرگی هست..؟ روحی در ما هست که مارا یگانه مخلوقِ عالم کند؟ آیا خدا همانطور که خدا باوران می گویند همه کَس و همه چیز را خلق کرده و کنترل می کند؟ آیا ابدیتی در انتظار ماست؟ اگر در ایمان و باورهامان اشتباه کنیم و همانطور هم بمیریم چه؟ یا حتی بدتر اگر در لحظه مرگ بدانیم که سال ها اشتباه کرده ایم چه؟

رواية قلعة في البيرينيه هي رواية الحب الذي لا يموت، وإن توارى لفترة من الزمن، رواية الشك والإيمان، رواية الفكرة العلمية و نقيضتها الروحانية معاً، رواية الأسئلة التي تخلق أسئلة جديدة:
هل العلم يفسر كل شيء؟
هل بعض القوى الظاهرية تسيطر على حياتنا؟.
الحيرة بين الروح والجسد، الماديات والمعنويات، ما نشعر به وما نتحسسه بأيدينا، هذا هو محور العمل الأدبي لجوستاين غاردر المولع بالبحث والتساؤلات.
لا أعد هذا العمل روائياً، أكثر ما أراه حواراً علمياً بين قطبي البشرية الذكر والأنثى، يطرحان أطروحات فلسفية متعددة وعميقة ومعقدة.
مَن يحب -مثلي- أن يضع نفسه في حيرة ويجد من يشترك معه في أفكاره وأسئلته التي بلا أجوبة سيجد في هذا العمل متنفس له.
تحمل رواية قلعة في البيرينيه عنوان لوحة للفنان البلجيكي رينيه مارغريت (قلعة في البرينيه) والتي تمثل المعاني الفلسفية التي تتضمنها الرواية، والإشكالات التي بقيت معلقة بين بطليها.
حزن يعتريني كلما أيقنت أننا نحن البشر معرفتنا ضئيلة أكثر مما نتصور.

در بین تمام کتابهایی که خوندم دومین کتابی بود که آرزو می کردم هیچ وقت تموم نشه. پس از شاه مات از گوردر ناامید شده بودم اما با این کتاب باز شیفته اش شدم. قصری در پیرنه هم فلسفه داره هم علوم طبیعی هم علوم ماورا طبیعی و هم عشق. مهمتر از هر چیز اینه که یادآوری می کنه دنیا همینجا و در همین لحظه است.

عظيمة رغم نهايتها المفجعة ، تناولت موضوع فلسفي حول الروح و وجودها
رسائل يتبادلها صديقين قديمين تقابلا دون تخطيط بعد فراق دام ثلاثين سنة ، أحدهما يؤمن بالطبيعة وما يراه فقط "عقلاني"، والطرف الآخر يؤمن بالروح وما وراء الطبيعة..
