A nice blend between (pre)historical fiction and cli-fi. It was written in a way that made you feel like you are inside the story and are being told the tribe's past. Numerous years pass by throughout the novel so that you get to read about the protagonist's whole life, from childhood to old age. It was fascinating to learn more about the daily lives of people back then, to read about how their religion and political rule could have looked like, and to see how they adapted to new circumstances, be it new weapons, a change of rule, domesticating a wolf, or life after a volcanic eruption. Love and death go hand in hand in this one, as do prosperity and harsh survival, harmony and conflict.
