A collection of writings on coaching, leadership, and team- building by one of the most successful coaches in NCAA history. Terry Pettit led Nebraska volleyball to twenty one conference championships and an NCAA National Championship in 1995.In Terry Pettit you are as likely to come into contact with a reference to Sun Zu or Calvin and Hobbes as you are with John Wooden or Coach K.
A great book! If you're an athlete or a coach, or if you're just a fan of any sport, I think that you would enjoy this book. Terry Pettit has a great perspective on what it means to foster a team--regardless what sport. I thoroughly enjoyed his perspective!
Behind the scenes of what make a great team. Coaching leadership tips and TONS of coaching experiences that’s are too funny and too relatable even in my high school coaching career.
I tend to rate books simply on how much I enjoy reading them and how much enrichment I take with me. This short, easy to read book is a slam dunk on both counts. The topic, while specifically related to volleyball, can be easily applied to any situation in which a group of people need be molded into a "team" (i.e. a music ensemble such as a band). I especially enjoy the way Pettit draws on sources, ideas, and methods outside of the "jock" world to teach concepts. These concepts are adaptable in almost any situation dealing with people working together for a common purpose. Did you know his Bachelors degree is English and in grad school he received a Master of Fine Arts in poetry?
Writings of Terry Pettit - the architect of University of Nebraska volleyball. Some coaching memories and many just random thoughts on coaching and team-building. Reading this book just made me feel good about being a coach.
