This is an excellent book about the history of Science, including medicine, from Antiquity until the mid-18th Century (as the subtitle points out) centred about the different modes of apprehension of Nature, which are reflected in the way those who produce, keep, and spread knowledge (scribes, scholars, but also printers, cartographers, or navigators) operate and interact with each other and with the society at large. A very enlightening book indeed!
