Developing Literacy: An Integrated Approach to Assessment and Instruction

Rate this book
Developing Literacy focuses on the reading classroom, rather than the reading clinic, and highlights the relationship between literacy development and child development. Abundant strategies facilitate assessment and offer useful models for both whole classroom and individualized settings. In addition, the text pays special attention to literacy strengths and weaknesses of ESL students.

This is an excellent introduction to understanding literacy as a developmental process and how to go about assessment and instruction with this in mind. I use this as a reference , especially the chapters on assessment.
