If the idea of rampaging grizzly bears fueled by PCP and a serial killer with serious mommy issues against Yellowstone rangers and Indian folklore sounds too good to be true…well, that’s because it is.

The Quiet is a mess of a novel. Not because it’s hard to follow to not make sense, but because it’s just so underwhelming and pointless.

The backstories for the characters are lame and unoriginal. The use of American Indian folklore as an engine for the plot is also nothing new. The characters themselves are unlikable with no redeeming qualities. I suppose I should give Billings some credit for his descriptions of Yellowstone National Park but those took up more page space than the story itself.

Just a very forgettable horror novel amongst many other forgettable horror novels.

I really enjoyed this! I love national parks and this was well written and the Native American lore was cool as well. Did guess the killer right away though but I usually do pretty quickly so I’m used to it.
