Verse-by-Verse commentary through the Gospel of Matthew.
The Gospel of Matthew provides the perfect bridge between the Old and New Testaments, powerfully showing who Jesus is, how He lived, and His teaching among men. Writing as a Jewish man to readers familiar with Judaism, Matthew presents Jesus as the Messiah, and as the King of Israel and the whole earth - then, now, and forevermore.
David Guzik’s commentaries are noted for their clear, complete, and concise explanation of the Bible. Pastors, teachers, class leaders, home study groups, and everyday Christians all over the world have found this commentary series remarkably helpful.
Pastor David Guzik made a very good collection of the Bible Commentary. The Book of Matthew briefly shows the life of Jesus and His teachings. The Sermon of Mount is a guidance to the life of a true Christian. This book also warns us of the end times and how people will think they worshipped God, but He never knew them. This also shows how the disciples never fully believed despite everything that Jesus told them. Doubt was their first friend. It tells us how doubt must not be the end of seeking Christ but rather a means to fight the devil's work. With doubt, pray and fast, then read the Bible carefully and let the Word of God be your subconscious thinking. Glorify the Lord in everything you do. Let your Christianity be your lifestyle, not only those few hours you spend in church on Sunday. The book also speaks of the Golden Rule (which is musunderstood by many), the teaching about judging, and the Great Commission. The 1st Gospel, the Matthew intro to/with Jesus Christ
I enjoyed this book on Matthew. Well written and uplifting. You learn a lot by being soaked up with the life and death and the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ….there is no other person or life even remotely as deep and wide and broad and caring and authoritative as Jesus Christ…walk this journey with Him and you will see for yourself
I am intensely studying each book of the Bible. Along with reading the actual scripture, I use David Guzik’s Series of individual Bible books as an accompaniment to my in-depth studies. These books contain an abundance of information explaining each book of the Bible.
St. Mathew the Evangelist, pray for us! Might as well just get Charles Spurgeon and William Barclay's commentaries as often as they are sited. Should also be noted that this is a Protestant commentary.
this book offers the same insight a thoughtful reader could find just by reading the Bible. no deeper insights or background to be found. if you only want to stand ankle deep in the ocean of thought, this is your book.
