Be Mindful continues to follow the story of the McPhail family in their attempts to turn Dunnbray into the successful business that old Angus McPhail envisaged. Strange things are happening; mishaps and accidents occur – is someone trying to sabotage their efforts? The riddle first appearing in Every Why is solved, but is it just a hoax or do they uncover something, which will benefit Dunnbray? Family relationships are stretched to the limit and someone is finally told to leave, but who will it be? As in the first novel – Every Why – there are still many questions which need answering, the main one being - does Susan, the new Lady of Dunnbray rise to the challenges before her? Would she have made her grandfather proud if he had lived? Read on and find out.
I had read Every Why & liked it so much, I wanted a sequel. Be Mindful is the very thing & was worth the wait. I quickly got caught up in the McPhail family's challenges. Even though the villain is beyond obvious, the twists & turns kept me guessing. A compelling, fun read.
Oh dear......I loved the first book in this series and gave it 5 stars and bought this on the back of it. However, I laboured as far as 18% in and gave up. Lost commas, misplaced apostrophes then missing speechmarks too to cap things off. I was horribly disappointed but life's too short, I'm afraid, to waste time wading through so many mistakes. It features the same group of people that were in Every Why. I think you'd be a little baffled in you didn't read the original story first, though. I did mention apostrophe errors in my review of that but it wasn't unreadable as this one is. It's rare you read one by an author that's so good and then the sequel is so horrible.
