The Science Behind The Secret: Decoding the Law of Attraction

Rate this book
We Create Our Own Relaity and Science Says It’s True! The Laws of Attraction Do Exist and are Explained in Layman’s Terms by a NASA Scientist. With an Introduction by John Edward.

For over forty years, writers have described and pondered the aspects of The Law of Attraction in works such as The Power of Positive Thinking , Creative Visualization and the phenomenal best seller, The Secret . Millions of copies of books on this subject have been sold in just the past two years. Now, Dr. Travis S. Taylor connects these visionary concepts to modern physics, and in The Science Behind The Secret shows that with every thought we have we are creating our own reality; and that we can control our own realities if we learn how through The Science Behind The Secret !
Dr. Taylor, a scientist, engineer and science fiction writer who has studied the esoteric nature of quantum physics and the universe, takes the reader on an eye-opening journey of understanding this theory. Through modern quantum physics, Dr. Taylor shows that The Secret is actually a restatement of the accepted physical models of quantum coherence and entanglement.
The Science Behind The Secret explains these advanced scientific concepts through popular culture references, science fiction examples, philosophy discussions, self-help stories, and literary anecdotes in an amusing way that only a skeptical Southern scientist could.

This was my second time reading this book and I got benefits from it both times. One little thing I picked up this time that I might have missed the first time: If you are thinking "I wish I had a new bicycle, I wish I had a new bicycle", that is what you will get. A new bicycle? No. You will get you wishing you had a new bicycle, because that is the thought you are putting out. If you put out the thought of already having the bicycle, that you know you have it, the results will be different.

I gave it 3 stars because it was well written but I’m pretty sure it’s a self help cult book and I didn’t understand 65% of it.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. After hearing about the movie and watching it, I ~wanted~ to buy in, but couldn't swallow it despite so many credible people talking about it. Taylor, a NASA scientist, breaks down how quantum physics could be behind the the Secret. It's very accessible and gives the reader a great primer for how he thinks it works while tying in other luminaries in science and philosophy who seem to agree that there is something behind the curtain. I took one star away because I wanted to see more.

Name says it all. I enjoyed it but was lost and bored throughout a lot of the sciencey stuff. It's good and well written, he explains it well. Just a little heavy for me. Still I aspiring though and I got a lot of take-a-ways

Interesting

I am not a scientist and not a physicist. Dr. Travis Taylor leads the reader through a possible explanation of human thought process. How to alter the forces that be to attain a better outcome in life. Very positive and well explained.

quantum physics is so heavyyy, i lost a bit of interest in the sciencey chapters but as soon as he’d relate them to more concrete examples it made more sense to me. also liked his style of writing super fun and casual, made me feel like he was explaining this stuff to me in a bar over drinks.

A richly informative book that adds a whole new dimension to the concept of The Secret. Its main drawback is Travis S. Taylor's casual writing style. For a concept that is already criticized for being too idealistic, you don't exactly augment its credibility when you explain it using allusions to Kung Fu Panda and The Karate Kid. Which is a shame because Taylor provides some EXCELLENT scientifically-backed evidence that The Secret is real. I really wish he would've elaborated more on these concepts and how they all tie together. While he makes great points, he never delves into them as far as you know he's capable of going. I know quantum physics is like a bottomless pit in terms of explaining concepts to their fullest extent, but too often he simply says "there are studies that prove X" without ever outlining what it is those studies actually consisted of. All in all, as richly detailed as this book is it could've been even longer and more expansive. Taylor is clearly passionate about this subject and I know he has the chops to dig even further down into the intricacies of The Law of Attraction, Quantum Physics and Orchestrated Objective Reduction; he just could've ditched the cutesy allusions and references along the way (I didn't mind the personal anecdotes though!). Still, if you're looking for a book to give you a scientific explanation behind the Law of Attraction that you felt books like The Secret were lacking, then this is the book for you!

I liked this book more for it's information about quantum physics than anything else. Hasn't convinced me of anything regarding "The Secret", but it has piqued my interest in quantum physics and the relation to the brain.

For a book that contains so much science, particularly quantum physics, this was a surprisingly enjoyable and easy read. Seems Rhonda may well be onto something after all.....

Loved this book! One chapter was way over my head as far as science goes, but I got the gist of it. Excellent book for the scientific mind to understand the Law of Attraction.
