** A Siren Erotic Romance **
***From the author . . . "I've always loved alpha males who know how to treat a woman. Of course, such men would have very strong ideas of what they want and how to get it. Those who are Doms or want a menage relationship may want to live where such things were the norm. And what woman wouldn't want to live where they're adored?" ~ Leah ~
But alas I still have two more books in this series to read, and by golly I am going to read them. Maybe the next one will be a little better.
Brooke writes a smoking hot sex scene that you need a glass of cold water to get through, but not much else. Her characters are not very likeable. There is no buildup, just sex for the sake of sex. If I wanted that I could just watch Skin-a-Max!
I loved the first book, and I can't wait to read the next book with Rachel and her two men. But this book was really hard for me to even finish. I won't summarize, but just list my dislikes.
1. I never believed Blade loved her. Ever. In the beginning, he's standoff-ish because of her abusive past, but once she comes to him for "training", I feel we should have seen some tenderness even if he was keeping his distance. He was really harsh with her their first time around then out of nowhere at the end he was very angry and cold toward her then again tender. I think the author was trying to show his struggle to stay distant from her while in love with her, but it just came off badly.
2. I cannot even describe how mad I was with Blade's "test". If she had said she wanted to try something like that then fine. But she had already confessed that she came to him because her only other experience with sex was rape - repeated rape...by her boyfriend. She came to him because she trusted him to help her find the joy and pleasure in lovemaking. And he throws this crap at her? To see if she responded to just anyone that way???? I finished it after this point only to see if I would need to know anything for the next book, but I was thoroughly done with it after this.
3. I hate, hate, HATE that the author had the heroine going after him to apologize and try to fix their relationship! Really!!! After a huge breach of her trust by the "hero", she's going after him to save their relationship. He's all broken up, but he can't bring himself to push her by apologizing to her??!!??
UGH! I'm just seriously upset by this book. Not because of the BDSM, which is mild, but because of the characters and the plot. I will definitely keep reading because I'm thinking this one is a fluke. Let's hope!!
This is a DID NOT FINISH for me. I've enjoy the first book quite a bit and will consider this a fluke. I'll probably give the next book try.
The main reason for the DNF is because I didn't feel that the characters were real enough. Blade came off as cold and Kelly didn't come across as the battered woman she was. Strong yes, but one that was abused sexually? No.
A huge no was when Blade TOOK AWAY her right to safe word for a scene because he felt it was the best for her to get pass that obstacle. That might've resulted in a favourable outcome but a safe word is something sacred in the lifestyle. A safety net. To take away the option to safe word is just horrible to me.
On to Blade, he felt cold and almost closed off to me. And his harsh words to Kelly when she prodded about the women in his life telling her that she was the one who wanted just sex instead of showing a hint of his concern and love for her felt wrong to me, and he'd claimed he loved her. I also felt that he came off too strong and fast, with not enough caution, despite Kelly's bad past. He demanded total control to do whatever he wanted and for her to obey.
And Kelly, despite being a strong who had overcome her tragic past, she didn't come across as a battered and abused woman. There would be triggers, flashbacks, panic attacks and fear of intimacy. But there was none when she jumped head first into a 6 week training session with Blade.
Hence why I didn't like their relationship nor could connect with the story or the characters. A total miss for me.
Mostly bondage/sex scenes with shy Kelly being trained and ruled by dom Blade. Not as erotic as others I’ve read.
Opinion: Some dom stories turn me on. This one didn’t. I felt uncomfortable seeing the way Blade ordered Kelly around. It wasn’t erotic for me. I’m not sure why. There’s not much story, just Kelly being shy and doing what Blade asked. Plot and conflicts could have been better, for example: the author made a big deal out of the fact that Blade and Kelly each loved each other but neither one wanted to admit it. Then later Kelly is wondering why Blade doesn’t know she loves him. Sex scenes include bondage, pain, and rear door activity.
Data: Story length: 196 pages. Swearing language: strong including religious words. Sexual language: strong/erotic. Number of sex scenes: 7. Setting: current day Desire, Oklahoma. Copyright: 2009. Genre: erotic contemporary romance.
Out of the series this is the one I think about the most. There is something rather powerful about Blade, who is a dom, but has such a level of vulnerability when it comes to Kelly that you just want to wrap him up as a present and take him home. Love, love, love this book.
I'm currently reading the 5th book in this series so I'd have to say that this is my favorite in the series so far.
Sure, Blade is a Dom and whatever he says must brook no argument, but I like the way he is with Kelly. His face softens a bit and he's been really patient with her. When Kelly decides to move on and finally gets the nerve to tell Blade she wants him, it didn't come out right until they agree to a six-week "test drive".
It's obvious to everyone they want each other but Blade and Kelly don't want to lay it all out yet. He's really a demanding Dom and he really eased Kelly into replacing the horror with pleasure. The rape and abuse was replaced with something enjoyable, something Kelly thought she wouldn't beg for. I especially loved the restaurant scene.
The sex and BDSM scenes were hot, and Blade just has to screw up a perfectly good time with his insecurity. Kelly has gotten stronger and more confident now, but with any formulaic story, her ex Simon just has to make an appearance and beat the hell out of her. The declaration of love, while unromantic, was still delivered in public.
The story, like the others contains anal play and toys, with a little public sex.
Kelly and Blade’s story actually begins Desire For Three as a background story but continues on in Blade’s Desire with Kelly wanting to move past her traumatic past. She knows she wants Blade but she doesn’t know how much Blade wants her and leads to some crossed wires in communication. Now that I am thinking about it the miscommunication is a result of some BDSM rule breaking. After reading a number of books with BDSM in the relationships, isn’t absolute honesty mandatory in such relationships? Seems to me that both Blade and Kelly should have been more open it would have saved Kelly a lot of heartache and Blade from making a complete mess of things as he made an ass of himself, lol.
Overall, Blade’s Desire is a well written and has many steamy fourplay and sex scenes and very few to no edits and a great story line but I do wish that there was more to the none bedroom storylines, like Simon going after Kelly. Even though I had something kind of negative to say I still feel that Blade’s Desire deserves 5 stars especially since this is not the first time I have been sucked into the story.

Love the Desire, OK series. I think this is the third or fourth time I’ve read the series from start to finish! Blade is just wow! Don’t know how else to describe him and I love that under his care Kelly comes alive! Totally has an HEA and if you haven’t read one of these books, your gonna love them!
Having been introduced to Kelly and Blade in the previous book, I was really looking forward to their story. Having just finished the book, I have to admit that I found myself disappointed with the story and a little bored while reading it.
The bulk of the story deals with Kelly's introduction to BDSM practices, either via Blade's playroom or the use of toys, e.g. anal plugs. For me at least, there needs to be more to erotic fiction than just a bunch of sex scenes. There should be a nice balance, but in this book, there was very little plot to the story and almost no character development. In fact, I was quite disappointed in the way Kelly was portrayed. She had a lengthy, physically and sexually abusive past history with an ex-boyfriend. Yet, during her first sexual encounter with Blade, Kelly trustingly hands over control to Blade and allows herself to be restrained. I realize that what I'm reading is erotica not literary fiction, but still, it would have been a little more realistic if Kelly had needed several sessions with Blade before she comfortably gave up control to him. I will admit though that I enjoyed seeing her transformation later in the story. I never really warmed to Blade, although he supposedly was in love with Kelly throughout the story. He was the Dom in the relationship and behaved as one, but the writing never really convinced me that he truly cared for Kelly, despite his declarations and inner thoughts.
Notwithstanding my comments, I'm prepared to give this series another chance and read the next book in the series. For anyone interested in other stories that also deal with an alternative lifestyle community, I'd strongly recommend Sophie Oak's 'Nights in Bliss' series.
Book two of Desire Oklahoma series, following the events of the previous book Kelly has recently moved to the town of desire to start a new life and move on from her traumatic past escaping from a mentally and physically abusive relationship with her ex boyfriend Simon. Kelly and her business partner Jesse Erickson have been making their business Indulgences a huge success in town. Kelly is attracted to Dom Blade Royal but is scared to be in an intimate relationship with him, but she wants to try so they begin a trial agreement of six weeks Blade teaches her about herself, boosts her Confidence and make Kelly trust him. Blade Royal has always had women throw themselves at him but he falls for Kelly and for once is the one pursuing not being pursued, but as much as he teaches Kelly about herself the more she teaches him about love. Of course there relationship has its up and down moments but Kelly’s past isn’t ready to be put to rest yet. The sheriff Ace discovers Brian Jesse’s ex has had a visitor Kelly’s ex boyfriend Simon and they believe he’s coming to desire for Kelly but the men of desire won’t let that happen they’ll band together to keep Kelly and Jesse safe. I love the community spirit of this series it’s very heartwarming and I like the fun and sexy bedroom scenes. I loved the introduction to Rachel, Chase and Boone Jackson who will be the main characters in the next book. If you’re looking for a good small town heated romance series to read I definitely recommend the desire Oklahoma series. The characters are entertaining to read about.
I love the men of Desire, Oklahoma and Blade is no exception. He is a Dom and he wants Kelly. He understands that Kelly has issues and may believe being a submissive is not something she can handle with her past. But Blade is patient and slowly builds Kelly’s trust in him both as a man and a potential lover and Dom. I adored Kelly. She is stronger than she believes. I loved that she decided to take the bull by the horns and fight for the future she wishes for instead of remaining a victim. In the second installment of Leah Brooke’s Desire,Oklahoma, series wecontinued where she left off in the first book in this series. Although you will better understand some subtle issues having read the first you will easily catch on to Kelly’s issues and Blade’s Desires. Leah Brooke did a wonderful job of showing Kelly’s journey in trust. She was deeply submissive and that lead to some of her troubles but with Blade she was able to come out her shell and become a woman confident within her own skin. I loved that Ms. Brooke did not make the journey easy. She made it real. I loved that Blade wanted the best for Kelly and made a concerted effort to set her free while allowing her to grow in a protected way. Ms. Brooke did not make him perfect and both he and Kelly made mistakes but they were easily handled with honesty and communication. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and look forward to returning to Desire, Oklahoma.
This was a real stinker, I didn't get past the first few chapters. It's very poorly written (high school level). For example: typically a character may have a thought, and the author will use dialog to advance the story/plot beyond that thought; Ms. Brooke's characters simply vocalize the thoughts already expressed in the story. Doesn't exactly move things along.
The storyline sounded somewhat intriguing: a Dom attracted to a woman who's moved to town to hide from her abusive former lover. Blade (claims) he understands he has to take it slow, but the first time she comes to his home, he takes her to his playroom, has her strip naked, ties her arms over her head, and proceeds to explore and fondle every inch of her body. This is, not surprisingly, very upsetting to her and he explains the safe-word concept. When she becomes agitated by his exploration of her anus, he insists it's necessary and takes away her safe-word because she's going to have to learn to like it.
That's his idea of taking it slow?!? That's when I stopped reading.
Hoping to escape being raped and battered by her ex-boyfriend Simon, Kelly jumps at the chance to move with her best friend and business partner, Jesse. Emotional healing begins in Desire, Oklahoma and after several months Kelly learns to trust Blade who has become her friend. Kelly wanting more than friendship makes the agonizing decision to have Blade train her to submit to him sexually, after all he is part owner and a Dom in the local BDSM club. Experiencing her first orgasm (ever) Kelly lets go of her inhibitions... one by one.
As in the first book of this series violence and injury clear up the misunderstandings between them and love wins. I just love it when love wins.
There was the obsessive-stalker-ex-husband plot again and the expected interaction with characters from previous books, but together with the author's well written scenes and story's fast pace make up for a very entertaining erotic reading. HERO is a Leader, co-owner of a bdsm club, who's been patiently awaiting for the woman he loves to overcome the trauma caused by her abusive exhusband. SCENES/CONTENT: several/bdsm GENRE/TONE: contemporary/mixed LENGHT: 202 pages
3.5 stars. I liked it, but kind of expected more. It was super hot and the chemistry between Blade and Kelly was scorching. I do have one complaint I felt Kelly moved from 0 to 60 a little to fast for me. I wanted more coaxing and also more explanation to her on what is really involved in a D/s relationship. It just kind of nettled me because if Blade is a pro a Dom as he is written he should have taken more care with her emotional fears.
I tried to read this book and frankly I was sort of looking forward to reading about Kelly because she seemed to be a good character. I was deeply disappointed how quickly she gave into sex despite having experienced such trauma as a repeated abuse including rape from her ex-boyfriend. I suppose I should have expected it due to previous book... well, I didn't finish and am sure that I won't read other books from this author.
Even though second in this series, this was the first of Leah Brooke's books I've read. I like this one the most so far -- not surprising since I'm not a big fan of menage. So the fact I went ahead and read the other two which are menage says I did enjoy this one a good deal. I thought the plot was the best in this one.
Direct sequel to Desire for Three although it can be read as a stand-alone. The characters, however, have all been introduced in the earlier book. Relationship driven dom/sub plot. It's a quick read.
Desire, Oklahoma 1. Desire for Three (2008) 2. Blade's Desire (2009) 3. Creation of Desire (2009) 4. Rules of Desire (2010) 5. Dark Desire (2010)
Leah Brooke's stories seem to be 80% fill to 20% content. She seems to have to produce so many words in a book, so she does. When you skip over pages because it is boring, then you can assume the writing is less than compelling. Kelly comes to Desire to escape a brutal ex-husband, and join her business partner. She meets Blade and blah blah blah.
Hmmmm, I did keep this book, but blade was not my favourite. He played to many games with Kate instead of just asking. I mean she came from an abusive relationship where being raped and beaten were normal. Do not play games with this woman!! Anyway I did keep reading although I cringed my way through, I did like it in the end.
Wow!! That is all I have to say! I was so excited for this book and Blade and Kelly's story did not disappoint!
Very emotional story. Kelly has been through a lot and Blade was rather arrogant at times. In the end he was able to show his heart and get his feelings in order.
This one was really awesome. Blade makes an excellent hero, and Ms Brooke creates him as a realistic Dom who's really a complete package. My only critique is that the ending sequence seems like it was rushed; the mechanics and motivations are, in my opinion, given short shrift. Still an excellent read!
Blade's Desire is my favourite book by Leah Brooke. I have read pretty much everything from this author and this is one I come back to time and time again. Blade is a loving, cruel, sexy, kinky, funny and kind Dom, one that you absolutely would love to spend some time with. A must read for anyone who loves a little BDSM Erotica. The other books in this series are also very good.
Blade and Kelly are perfect for each other. She gets brave after she realizes she loves him and asks him to teach her how to be intimate again. He loves her too, but thinks she only wants him for sex. Lots of misunderstandings occur and even more hot loving. This was a great book and I'm now a definite fan of Leah Brooke!
