Liv Davis had just about given up on her happily ever after. Burned by love more than once, she’s beginning to think Mr. Right wasn’t in the cards for her.

Can Liv open her scarred heart for this younger ladies man? She loves Marc more than she can begin to admit but she’s terrified of being rejected again. Marc faces a challenge greater than he’s ever faced before. Making a woman believe he’s more than just a great bedmate—making her believe he’s in it for good.
In the end it will all come down to two days in a hotel and a bet. Can they both win?
Lauren Dane has been writing stories since she was able to use a pencil, and before that she used to tell them to people. Of course, she still talks nonstop, and through wonderful fate and good fortune, she’s now able to share what she writes with others. It’s a wonderful life!
The basics: Lauren is a mom, a partner, a best friend and a daughter. Living in the rainy but beautiful Pacific Northwest, she spends her late evenings writing like a fiend when she finally wrestles all of her kids to bed.
Marc is the youngest of the four Chase men. Like his brothers, he’s known as a skirt chaser, and practicer of the wam-bam-thank-you-mam. However, in the past few months he’s been feeling down that he’s not found ‘the one’ yet. He wants love, marriage, and children just like his brothers Shane and Kyle.
Liv is his sister-in-laws best friend, and close to the Chase family for years. She is in her mid thirties and is also feeling her clock ticking. She wants to find ‘the one’ as well. A few years back she had a yearlong relationship with Matt, Marc’s older brother. But she ended it when she felt he would never commit to her. Recently she walked in on her current boyfriend doing the nasty with the town tramp. She’s heartbroken. Will she ever find the right man? Do the all stray and leave?
Marc suddenly sees Liv in different way. He realizes how attracted he is to her, and quickly realizes she is ‘the one’ for him. Liv is 6 years older than Matt, and has a hard time getting past the age difference, and his past as a playa. She's had a rough past with realtionships with men, her mother died when she was young, etc. Matt is up to the challenge, though.
I love how close the men are in this series. When one of them sets their sights on a woman, they all work together to make happen. Being wooed by a Chase boy doesn’t sound so bad to me. *batting eyes dreamily*
This is another feel-good read and I know I’m going to be rereading this series, and I’m not even done with the fourth yet. :)
Chased is the third book in a feel good, love conquers all contemporary romance series about the four hunky Chase Brothers (Kyle, Shane, Marc, and Matt) of small town Petal, Georgia and their loving, doting, spitfire mother Polly and tenderhearted, wise, lawyer father Edward.
Marc, a gym owner and personal trainer, is the youngest Chase brother known for his charming, easygoing, carefree demeanor and avid, wild skirt chasing ways. After seeing his brothers Kyle and Shane happily married with deep, loving women, he’s started to grow tired of empty one night stands with shallow women. He’s been attracted to his sister-in-law Maggie’s best friend Olivia “Liv” Davis for years, and they’ve engaged in lots of innocent flirting ever since Liv and Marc’s brother Matt broke up. She hires him as her personal trainer and they develop a deeper friendship, but after sharing an explosive kiss Marc suddenly realizes that he wants a real, lasting romantic relationship with Liv.
Liv wants a husband and kids, and after enduring lots of emotional heartache, cheating men, broken family, and failed romantic relationships, Liv is leery of entering a relationship with a former playboy like Marc. For a man who’s always had women easily, Marc’s got to pull no punches and work hard to woo Liv and convince her that their age difference doesn’t matter (she’s six years older than him), that he’s a man she can finally trust, and that he wants her forever...not just some hot, short-term fling.
Boy howdy do I love me some yummy Chase men and their award winning woo tactics!! Dreamy sigh!! I’d take any one of them any day and ten ways to Sunday!!
This is another fabulous, romantic, and steamy read in a wonderful contemporary romance series about the power of love and family. I highly recommend it for all romance lovers! 5 stars!
Once you get past Matt’s and Liv’s past relationship…okay, I still am not totally past that so lets say putting it aside from the story because even Marc brought it back up…
Chased was a fun, flirty and family grounded romance with some serious chemistry and heat between Liv and Marc. 3.5 Stars
I received this copy of Chased from HARLEQUIN - Carina Press. This is my honest and voluntary review. Chased is set to publish July 1, 2018.
Wow! Another winner by Lauren Dane! This lady can really write a hot romance--I did not want this one to end! Book 3 of the Chase Brothers series is a smoking hot story, with a wonderful yet complicated Hero and Heroine.
Liv Davis, the heroine, was first introduced in book 1 of the series, "Giving Chase". She works as an administrative assistant to the town mayor, and is best friends with schoolteacher Maggie Chase. Liv's 34 yrs. old, has dated around quite a bit, but hasn't found the 'right guy' yet. She had thought it might be Matt Chase, but after a year of dating, things never progressed to the next level and the couple broke up. Liv is getting tired of the dating scene; she sees how happy her friends are with married life, and she wants that too. She's tired of men who can't commit; she wants marriage, babies, the white picket fence--the whole shebang.
The hero, Marc Chase, is the owner of a gym and a personal trainer. He's 28 yrs. old, the 'baby' of the Chase family, and a somewhat notorious skirt chaser. Marc's known Liv for quite awhile, and always thought she was beautiful and a nice person too. He enjoys flirting with Liv, and she enjoys flirting with him. Liv has just been through a bad break up with her latest boyfriend, and Marc gives her a shoulder to cry on.
When Marc and Liv share a kiss at the Founder's day picnic, Marc is blown away. The kiss is hotter than he ever imagined, and he thinks he'd like to pursue a relationship with Liv. But Liv lays it on the line for him: she will no longer waste time on relationships that will go nowhere, and Marc has the reputation of a real ladies' man. Can Marc convince Liv that he's sincere and ready to settle down? Can Liv see him as Mr. Right and not only Mr. Right Now? And can Liv trust that her heart won't get broken yet again?
I really enjoyed this one! Marc and Liv are two lovable characters. There's a lot of witty banter between the two, and you can tell that they're really good friends and not just bed partners. There are some problems of emotional intimacy in the relationship, but the couple (especially Marc) works hard to makes sure the relationship succeeds. Of course their sex life is scorchingly hot, but the couple needs to work on being honest with their emotions. It all plays out in a weekend at an Atlanta hotel, where Marc and Liv finally get past all the emotional roadblocks standing in the way of their HEA. The ending was so satisfying, it had me tearing up! I can hardly wait to read the upcoming final book of the series, Matt's story, called "Making Chase".

This is the third book in the series and while the relationship arc stands alone - there’s people & events from previous books that are referenced so these are best listened to in order.
I’ve liked Liv’s character since the first book. In addition to being a faithful friend and a bit cheeky, she’s also been unabashed in her love and enjoyment of sex. It was refreshing to have an author not slut shame…. Except Marc has the same history and everyone in the book kind of knocks him for it.
Liv’s last boyfriend cheated on her and she’s simultaneously wary of men and determined she’s ready to settle down and get married. Marc wants Liv and realizes that with her, he wants the same.
For the most part, I liked these two together. Liv continually making a big deal out of a six year age difference (35 & 29) was tedious. The “3rd act breakup” was overblown and drawn out. Yet, there’s just something about most of these books that makes listening to them so easy.
Narration: I enjoyed Aletha George’s narration again. She has done a good job of giving all the characters unique voices and keeping them consistent between the books. So it’s easy to binge these.
This is part of a re-release with Carina Press of a series published by Lauren Dane in the late 2000s. Set in Petal, Georgia, I hadn't read the series before (but loved other stories by the author, in particular her Ink and Chrome romances) so I decided to pick up this one and see how her earlier works compare with her later ones.
Chased is the story of Marc Chase, the youngest of the Chase brothers and his friendship with Liv Davis. Marc is just getting off the ground with his business as a personal trainer while Liv is the mayor's assistant. Liv is a few years older than Marc but has been friends with him and his family since dating his brother Matt, a relationship that was painful when it ended even though the couple realized they weren't suited to each other. Marc has a playboy reputation and hasn't been interested in commitment, while Liv is ready for marriage and kids. Can these two opposites find common ground?
I enjoyed this glimpse of life in Petal and the family and friendships that make up this series! The Chase family is warm and loving and generous, as are the women who've been brought into the family via partnering with the Chase brothers. Liv is friends with all of them, even her ex Matt, and the author doesn't make a big deal of the fact that Liv is now interested in a different Chase brother. There is no awkwardness between Matt and Marc which was good to see.
Liv and Marc have issues to overcome on their way to a happy ending. Since Liv's last relationship ended when she discovered him cheating on her (not Marc, who was the boyfriend before her last one), she's hesitant to get romantically involved with someone like Marc who has a reputation for only looking for a good time. There are no complaints from the women he's been with (quite the contrary) and he's well liked and friendly. Because he works with a lot of women in his job as a personal trainer, Liv has to deal with jealous feelings and learn to trust him. Marc is a hero in pursuit (my favorite) and is able to show Liv that he's serious about making things last with her. Several sexy scenes and some emotional conversations cement their feelings for each other and lead to a satisfying happy ending. The scenes with the family and Liv's female friends are just as enjoyable as the romance. In comparison to her newer stuff, this does seems simpler in terms of plot and writing style, so the author's writing has evolved and gotten better at deep point of view. I'm looking forward to catching up on the series!
A copy of this story was provided by the publisher via NetGalley for review.
Wow...this one packed a bit more of an emotional punch than I was anticipating. I really didn't know what to expect from Marc and Liv, because their personalities up until now were pretty generic - he being the flirty one and she being the one who spoke her mind. What a surprise that these two were the ones to nearly make me cry!
These boys certainly do like to share - I'm not sure I would be happy knowing my sibling had intimate knowledge of my husband!! Despite that, I did fall in love with these two and I love how what started as quite casual and easy fast turned into an all consuming love.
My heart broke for Liv and the level of fear she experienced over her abandonment issues. I totally understood when she ran away from everything after feeling betrayed by all. The scene where she goes to the cemetary left a lump in my throat.
Now, lovely Marc *dreamy sigh*...from starting out such a light hearted easygoing personality, he actually blew me away with his wooing and alpha tendancies. When Liv runs and he goes after her refusing to let her push him away, I just melted. He is my favourite Chase brother - although honestly I would take on any of them! He was properly swoonworthy and his wooing was just brilliant. I loved how all the brothers got in on this one.
Oh yes, and the make up sex in the hotel was totally hot!!
As always I finished this book with a silly smile on my face, wishing I lived in Petal.
The Chase brothers sure do love to shuffle around the females. One of the brothers even made a comment in this book how the brothers like to find wives for each other...that is just weird to me. If I am not mistaken, all the women in the couples so far have dated at least one other brother. Isn't there some sort of brother/friend code that shuns that behavior?
It was good, not great. The Chase brothers are so yummy, you can't help but to want one for yourself!
I am almost finished with my re-read of the Chase series, and I am really going to miss these boys. Marc and Liv are certainly the hottest couple of the bunch-- definitely need to fan myself! But the way they are together is just great- bitchy, loving, sweet and usually within the same 20 minutes! This was a well written portrayal of a couple who are independent and are feeling their way into being a couple. Loved it!!!
This is my first read of the series but it was easy to be brought up to speed. It's also a republication of the series with updates done by the author. Marc is the youngest Chase brother and a forever player. This is his story and how the wild child turns into the tamed.
Liv once dated Marc's brother so that is a little twist to the story. But they weren't right for each other. That said, Marc and Liv have been friends forever. Liv thinks she knows Marc. But when they start spending more time together, she realizes that her friendship could be turned into more. Fear prevents them both from loving.
I loved the easy banter between all the characters. I loved that Marc rally's his brothers to help in his quest. I really loved the tender moments between Liv and Marc.
I'll be grabbing the 4th book for sure. Can't wait to see who Matt lets into his heart.
*Complimentary copy provided for an honest review.
Marc Chase adores women and makes no apologies for playing the field with as many of them as possible. His brothers, Kyle and Shane, have succumbed to the love bug and are living `happily ever after' and now it's Marc's turn. He's always admired Liv but now he's determined to convince her that his advances are very real.
Liv has already had a serious relationship with his brother Matt but that did not become permanent and she is not sure about a younger man. It's been well over a year since Liv and Matt's break up and Marc has hinted at becoming more than friends with Liv. She never takes him seriously though. He's about to embark on a new venture professionally with the opening of his own gym and while he's never thought that he needed or wanted just one woman in his life but he's finding that he wants to share everything with Liv.
Liv isn't about to get involved with Marc. She admits to herself that she's attracted to him but she's looking for a man who's ready to settle down and raise a family. She's six years older than he is and doesn't want to compete with all the flirty younger women who are constantly vying for his attention. Marc's come by his confirmed bachelor reputation honestly, but now that he's interested in getting serious with one woman his reputation is causing nothing but problems. Is Marc up to the monumental task of convincing Liv that he means to love her forever?
The third book in Lauren Dane's CHASE BROTHERS series, CHASED, is a feisty read which I thoroughly enjoyed from beginning to end. Liv comes across as an independent woman who knows what she wants but she's actually very insecure in her relationships with men. She's been burned before and is afraid of being hurt again. Marc has charmed his way through his share of women but on the one that matters most charm isn't going to work. I love how the whole Chase family bans together to help bring Marc and Liv together. There's something that's just so charming and heartwarming about this family that makes a reader long to be a part of the Chase clan.
We'll be treated to Matt's story next when MAKING CHASE is released (it is currently available in ebook format). If you've been reading through all the books in this series, I'm sure you're just as anxious as I am to finally read about the woman who can capture the last Chase brother's heart.
Liv is the ex-girlfriend of Matt, although they remain friends, and she still sees the whole Chase clan due to her friendships with Maggie and Cassie, the wives of 2 of the Chase brothers. Marc, the youngest Chase, is attracted to Liv, but she wants a man who is ready to commit, and she doesn't believe Marc is after more than a one night(or week) stand. Marc, in the tradition of the older Chase brothers, decides to instigate "The Woo", because he realizes Liv is The One.
Liv is a terrific heroine. She is smart, sassy and sure of what she wants. Her inner commentary made me laugh out loud. She is loyal to her friends. But she doesn't believe she is worth being truly loved, or that she will ever find love like her 2 best friends have. Liv just broke my heart. She feels like everyone she loves leaves her, which makes it hard for her to believe Marc has real feelings for her. Even if he does, she doesn't want to lose him or his family when the inevitable happens - he leaves her. Liv had such a hard time making that leap, and trusting in herself and Marc. When a misunderstanding occurs, she and Marc finally confront her deepest fears. Her straighforwardness and honesty in that scene...wow.
Marc is also terrific. He woos with a vengenance, noticing her favorite tea, sending her flowers, bringing her a muffin on the way to work, leaving poetry on her desk. He refuses to let her run away from what he believes they can build together. He enlists the help of his family, and gets some sage advice from Edward, his dad, in the wooage process. Marc is hard to resist, but throw in all of the Chase's and their wives, and Liv never really stood a chance. Marc knows he has to give Liv time to figure that out for herself, and time to trust in him and his feelings. He is patient, strong, understanding and so in love with Liv, but never does he come off as wimpy. In fact, he grows into the dominant side of his personality because he feels free to be himself when he is with Liv.
Liv and Marc really bring out the best of each other. They are terrific characters on their own but together they are stellar. Lauren Dane creates these amazingly real people, effortlessly weaving her story. I loved this book, and the chemistry between these two is off the hot chart.
Marc must face the biggest challenge of his life-convincing Liv Davis that he means to love her forever. Book Three in the Chase Brothers Series Liv Davis had just about given up on her happily ever after. Burned by love more than once, she's beginning to think Mr. Right wasn't in the cards for her. Marc Chase is a confirmed bachelor and lover of women-lots of them. He's determined not to fall head over heels the way his brothers have. Until he kisses Olivia Davis and realizes head over heels may not be such a bad thing after all! Can Liv open her scarred heart for this younger ladies man? She loves Marc more than she can begin to admit but she's terrified of being rejected again. Marc faces a challenge greater than he's ever faced before. Making a woman believe he's more than just a great bedmate-making her believe he's in it for good. In the end it will all come down to two days in a hotel and a bet. Can they both win?
I have to say that I love Marc and Liv. She wants to get into shape and since Marc has opened up a gym why not right. Even though is the is the little brother to her ex boyfriend who also is her best guy friend. Marc is always flirts with her but she knows that it is his personality. However, after one night kiss Liv knows that there is so much more to Marc, but because she still has bad feelings she decides to continue to date others because she just is not ready for that kind of love. Marc on the other hand knows there is something about Liv. Has known for a long time even his brother Matt was dating her. Yet brothers have a code, so he pushes he feelings aside and continues to flirt with her. But as he gets to know her he knows that his feelings are true but he knows that he is going to have to prove himself to Liv. He gets his chance at the homecoming picnic. He saw fireworks and knew she did too but she ran. Marc then enlists the help of his brothers and mom to get Liv to be his girl. It was so sweet how patient Marc was with Liv even though he was hurting when she felt that she had to date other people.
Lauren Dane has delivered again. I'm not real crazy about older-women/younger-men romances. I kind of have a 'ewww' response with one brother previously dated the woman and, yes, I’ll qualify that as in ‘had a sexual relationship’. (I don't mean to offend anyone out there, it's just me.) But here is a great book with both those situations - and it works beautifully!
Liv thinks Marc is Mr. Right Now and doesn't want her heart broken again. Marc is starting up a new gym and, while helping Liv get in shape, realizes his feelings for her go deeper than any previous woman. And the chase is on! What a fun book that also made my heart swell up into my throat. LD has a way that makes the characters come alive and I cared about them. Plus, the sex was H.O.T.
The prose flowed, so much so that soon I found I was at the end of a book that I didn't want to end. Luckily, there is one more Chase Brother after this one. It takes a pretty good writer to make me change my mind, but Ms. Dane is talented enough to pull it off.
I loved this book. The story of Marc and Liv is explosive. They have the hottest chemistry. These books aren't always in the erotica category but should be. You will not be disappointed.
Both Marc and Liv have shied away from any real commitment in a relationship. Marc is the most eligible bachelor with quite a reputation. Liv is a 34 yo woman who has dealt with loss since 13 and keeps everyone at a distance. She dated Matt, Marc's brother for a year and still remains close with the Chase family. After finding her current beau, Brody in the bed with another woman, she decides to look for Mr. Right. Marc shows interest and begins to see Liv as not only georgous, but thinks she could be the one to make him settle down. They struggle with her needing to realize you have to throw caution to the wind to find your Hea. And Marc realizes he wants the white picked fence and 2.5 kids. Its an enjoyment to go thru this journey with them.
This was a funny book, Liv with her issues and Marc with his chasing. I can see where Liv got her issues. For some reason I thought it was funny with how hard she made Marc work to be a part of her life. I can see why she did with his reputation as a skirt chaser. When Marc got his brothers together and they came up with the wooing plan I was laughing. I also loved to hear Edward's advice to Marc.
When Liv ran I wondered where she would end up. When Maggie finally showed up I was surprised, only because I sort of agreed with Liv's reasoning on why she had to leave.
While I enjoyed reading this book, my own personal issues with Liv and Matt's past relationship grossed me out at times. How odd was it that she dated and slept with both brothers, it was worse than the Shane/Maggie/Kyle drama. It was even worse when they fought and Marc would bring it up as a point, not to degrade her, but to point out that the last people she dated just weren't right for her.
(May) This was probably my least favorite of the Chase brothers books. It was ok, but there was something off about Liv, the heroine. I also don't like the fact that Liv dated/slept w/brother Matt for a year (and at the beginning still have unrequited feelings for him and thinks about the great sexual chemistry they had together) - it's one thing that Maggie from book one dated and kissed Shane a bit before falling for Kyle; but to have been that intimate w/one brother and then end up with the other is just not my favorite storyline. It was ok, but nothing great.
Marc must face the biggest challenge of his life-convincing Liv Davis that he means to love her forever.

Warning, this title contains the following: explicit sex, graphic language.
I´m a fan of Lauren Dane´s books and they are always a fun reading.
Liv and Matt´s story hits a little to close to home because as a older woman I can relate to Liv´s feelings, its always hard to not let the society expectations to influence your choices, specially in this situation where we are trained to think poorly of a woman in this situation.
Matt is a sweet guy. I just wish he existed in real life, actually I wish all the Chase men existed in real life. The world be such a better place. *insert happy sigh here*
* insira feliz suspiro aqui *
Marc Chase is the youngest brother, and considered the ULTIMATE "Lady's Man," or "Sweet-Talker," of the Chase Clan. Women to him are a dime-a-dozen, yet one woman strikes up the match, that cannot be EXTINGUISHED.
His brother, Matt's ex, Liv, she's everything he's ever wanted. She's the complete package, wife material, caregiver, and an ALL-DAY VIXEN BETWEEN THE SHEETS. She's not embarrassed by her SEXUAL INHIBITIONS. Something Marc isn't use to, all the women he's been with, he has initiated every sexual encounter, but with Liv it's completely different.
The proverbial, invisible restrains have been loosened. And once DESIRE & LUST has dissipated, and an undeniable love is brought forth, who will be safe from a disastrous heart-break?
Especially since it's been ingrained into Liv's livelihood, that everyone she has ever LOVED has DISAPPEARED. First with the death of her mother from cancer, then her father left and moved to Florida, her sister moving on with her life. Liv has been left isolated from her family, and unfortunately she caught her current boyfriend cheating on her. The only other person Liv has left to turn to is Maggie, her best friend.
Therefore Liv cannot believe the confession of love Marc has given her, he has to PROVE it. Yet will Liv be able to finally accept Marc's declaration or will she leave him in the dust?
This novel was exceptionally written, barely any misspelled words, graphical errors, or punctual mistakes (I think I found one--which is no big deal). Ms. Dane used other words to describe the art of love-making, as well.
Either she used a different editor or the editor she already had actual did her job, and didn't pass it to an assistant. Because all the other novels within this series was ATROCIOUS, the story-line was outstanding, and very beautiful. I undoubtedly LOVED Maggie & Kyle's Story. But I was extremely disappointed to pay for these novels with so many mistakes. I'm sure I wasn't the only one.
THIS NOVEL HIT ME TOO CLOSE TO THE HEART, it reminded me of my best friend, she had a very difficult life. Her mother died of cancer, just the same as Liv. Her father shacked up with some lady, and left his family high-and-dry. Leaving the house in shambles, bills out-of-the-wazoo, and left all the responsibility to his children. She was forced to help raise her youngest brother along with her oldest brother, and unfortunately they all had absolutely no type of childhood. But GOD BLESS them, they all did very well for each other in life.
My best friend also married her ex-boyfriend's brother, and for the life-of-me, I couldn't figure out why in the world she would do that. But their love is stronger than anything I've ever seen. Besides my own marriage, I'm envious of them, he adores her and worships the ground she walks on. And she's a loving and extremely devoted wife, and I know in my heart she will be an OUSTANDING mother as well.
THANK YOU MS. DANE FOR HELPING ME BETTER UNDSTAND THE DECISSIONS MADE FROM MY OWN FAMILY MEMBERS. THIS NOVEL DESERVES NOTHING LESS THAN A 10 STAR RATING!!
Reread Nov 11 2013: Liked it so much better after listening to it. I actually upped the star rating to 4. Decent narrator and quick listen. I would recommend for a sweet romance with intrigue and humor and wonderful characters.
Another sweet romance with steam from Lauren Dane...these Chase brothers are too good to be true.

My Thoughts:
I will be quick because basically this review is the same as the first two this series. A nice read, with some good steam and wonderful characters with a bit of depth. What singles this one out is that the characters were a bit more 3 dimensional than her previous ones, this could be because both these characters have been in the past 2 books. Marc and Liv make a good couple. I did get sick of Liv going on about the almost 6 year age difference...like that really makes a difference if they were both into each other...
A 3 star read for this one..and yes I would recommend to lovers of light erotica with a sweet romance.
Walking in on her boyfriend with another woman set into motion a turn of life changing events for Liv Davis. Having been burned more than once with choosing the wrong men who either are happy with where they are at or untrustworthy, Liv decided the next man in her life is going to be the one who can give her stability and the family she so desperately wants.
Marc Chase has been friends with Liv for years, but lately he can't seem to keep his mind from wondering what if? When a scorching kiss knocks him off kilter he decides he wants more than a sampling, Liv though has no interest in a repeat performance since she sees Marc as a player and his younger age has her rebuffing his efforts to give their relationship a try. What else can Marc do, he decides he is going to woo her in Chase fashion, but Liv has to let go of her hangups before they can take the next step.
This was a fun one, I did get a bit tired of Liv though she had this wall that she just was not letting go of and I felt sorry for Marc while she was this way because he couldn't get through to her. Otherwise the story was entertaining, Shane's story is still my favorite.
On a re-read. Maybe it's just my current frame of mind... or maybe it was my frame of mind a year ago when I rated this a 3 star read. It is now definitely down to 1.
I truly disliked everything about this. I didn't like the characters... or the changes to the characters over the series as it had progressed. I really didn't like either Marc or Olivia. I thought she was ridiculous to be so hung up on a 6 year age gap... if she had been a bloke it wouldn't have even been mentioned. I don't like the whole 'dating' thing. So, she went out with Rancher Bill 3 times and got to 3rd base with him. I'm not judging here... but... it's just not very... nice... especially as she was the one to say that she wanted a committed relationship... personally, Rancher Bill sounded like a better bet than 'revolving bedroom door boy' Marc...
I wish she had stayed in Atlanta and found a brand new life for herself... after all, she has already shagged the only 2 unmarried Chase brothers... and it seems everyone else in Petal has too.
Audiobook 11/2018: I remember really loving the entire Chase series, though books 1 and 4 were always my favorites. While I liked aspects of this book this time around, I admit Liv got on my nerves. I loved her relationship with her best friends and I adored how quick she was to stand up for herself and not take any crap. It drove me crazy how quick she was to jump to conclusions and always assume the worst. The drama toward the end of the novel made me want to punch her in the head.
Still, I loved how Marc called her out for her nonsense, and the end was very satisfying. So I guess all is not lost. I'd probably downgrade it from my original 4/5 to 3.5/5.
I did really like the narrator. She did the Southern accents perfectly and really pulled me into the story.
Original Note 3/2009: I enjoyed both main characters and visiting the others in Petal. The story was well done and believable. Had a few flaws, but overall enjoyable.
Another wonderful instalment in the Chase Brothers series! This is Marc and Liv's story and was really about both of their insecurities and needs and how they overcome and work through the rough stuff to be together. This book was really romantic, it was so sweet how Marc 'wooed' Liv to try and prove to her he loved her, a real old fashioned boy, delivering flowers, chocolates etc. I'm a sucker for such things, he would have won me over at gate one lol! Again in this story, the importance of family and friends being there to support you comes shining through, and Marc's parents, Polly and Edward are such sweeties, I wish I had in-laws like that!
Anyway definitely worth reading, not only for the romance, and realism of the issues covered, but it also has some really smoking hot sex scenes that will make you tingle! I don't know what I'm gonna do when I finish the next book, I will be bereft lol!
