I'm Barry Nugent, an author of supernatural adventures and the creative force behind the Unseen Shadows Universe, which expands the world and characters from my novels across multiple platforms.

I'm also the co-host on the Geek Syndicate podcast, that takes a humorous look at pop culture. The success of the podcast led me to present two documentaries for the BBC.

I live in sunny Northampton (well sometimes it is) with my wife and two cats. We've done our fair share of travelling which has definitely helped with the globetrotting aspects of my stories.

Barry Nugent to most peoples knowledge has written one book, fallen heroes. That book has a cult following, a comic adaptation, five comic spin-offs, an audio play and has even been optioned for TV. But 12 years ago Barry published the book Paladin. I remember thinking at the time that it was okay, a fun romp without much depth and nothing more to it, however for some reason I decided to return to this book over a decade later. The book has Yasmin adventurer and Princess of Primera, a kingdom in danger meeting her favourite author Barnaby Jackson,a sworn coward, and involving him in a quest to save her kingdom.

The story is globetrotting, full of action and adventure. The characters are fun and the plotting is consistent. The two protagonists relationship is not a smooth one and a joy to behold.

Although this is quite clearly early Nugent this is an action adventure romp that I thoroughly enjoyed this time round. I think it would make a perfect buddy movie/summer blockbuster.
