An isolated fishing village on the Atlantic coast of Ireland provides the backdrop for this poignant yet gently humorous story of the conflict between Christian and Celtic beliefs. Deeply spiritual and profoundly human.
Interesting novella about a stranger who comes to the village of Killknock, on the western coast of Ireland. For a while I thought the story of the mountain Knockmor/Knockmaan/Mananaan was based on Croagh Patrick but then Croagh Patrick was mentioned on page 88 of my edition. The story is full of mysticism and makes a very interesting read.
An endearing tale about a poor fishing village in Ireland, and the people who live in it. A stranger comes to town, and things start to change for the better for some of those people. A young girl figures out who the stranger is, but all others remain ignorant of his identity. This is a tale of faith, of spirituality, and the persistence of ancient beliefs.
