I read this book to get an overview of Brazil. My wife read it on her own. We are going to Brazil later this year. I learned a lot just from simple concepts. Brazil has Carnival while New Orleans has Mardi Gras. I did not realize Brazil was settled in the early 1500's. They also had a lot of slaves then set them free in 1888. Brazil exports Brazil nuts, oranges, sugar cane, and today, manufactured goods. There are a lot of poor people in Brazil. Sao Paulo has the largest population of any ciity in the country. Only 1% of the population is the indigenous people.
