Walk from creation to eternity in a way guaranteed to change your view of the world. You'll finally understand the war Satan is waging against God and how that conflict has affected history, including the persecution of Jewish people and Christians.
This book has been a pivotal part of my spiritual journey and shaped my understanding of the scriptures. Dr. Showers was one of my profs in school. He is a great man and the real deal. This book is easy to read and presents the scriptural narrative in a way that will shape the way you will view the world, what has gone wrong and how God is going to fix it.
The main thrust of the book’s argumentation seems to rely on assuming Satan’s motivations in influencing/controlling the events of human history from Genesis through the modern age and to the events of Revelation. Human evil and the possibility of divine pedagogy have a minimal place, and beliefs the author disagrees with are treated as coming from Satan and not allowed any nuancing or benefit of the doubt.
Excellent study. Very revealing. The author has videos on YouTube and with the book, the subject of “What is God doing” is made clear. I completed this study and have gained a better biblical understanding of events of the past and of our times today. (Highly recommend).
Clear and precise account of church history, specifically detailing Satan's conflict with God in past ages to the present. It was a short and very thought-provoking message.
Showers accesses that God has been doing on planet earth from a very "big picture" view. It greatly enriched my understanding of the battle between good and evil.
Showers gives a general historical overview of Scripture with an emphasis upon the various dispensations. He focuses particularly upon his premise which shows a conflict between God and Satan throughout each historical epoch. Showers has an enjoyable, concise writing style that moves at a swift pace. He is also a Dispensational theologian, which shows quite clearly in his biblical interpretation of the biblical areas, but comes especially to light in his chapters concerning eschatology, particularly as it relates to the nation of Israel.
For the Dispensatinalist, I recommend the book as an overview to demonstrate a literal interpretation of the Bible and as a means of exploring a more concise explanation of eschatology. For the non-Dispensationalist, the book will probably only serve as an introduction to the theological school. Those seeking a more nuanced understanding of Dispy theology, would be better served by looking elsewhere.
