“I am a scientist, not a soldier. I always wanted to make things, and discover things, and find out important stuff about the universe and our place in it. I never wanted to end things. I especially never wanted to end the lives of people.”

Oh Zelenka, how much I like you!

This an hour-long "episode" of the show, sets during season 2 of Atlantis, shortly before Coup D'etat. It features David Nykl as Radek Zelenka, with Aiden J. David as Argan Loci.

During an off-world mission, Dr Radek Zelenka finds himself trapped in a decrepit Genii power station with a Genii soldier. Before a catastrophic nuclear meltdown happens, Zelanka must find a way to gan the trust of his enemy so he can save the lives of theirs and all the other people who are living on the planet.

In other words; the story of a scientist (Zelenka) getting stuck at a nuclear reactor with a (Genii) soldier

Random thoughts; good character development, ok storyline, good old Genii never amazing us at things they are cabaple of doing for 'you know what', some emotional stuff...

Out of all the Stargate audiobooks, this one was my favourite. Radek is just such a great character, gotta love seeing him in the spotlight. Great narration with a suspenseful story made for an hour of highly enjoyable entertainment.

This 12th installation of the Big Finish Productions of Stargate audiobooks features Zelenka at Atlantis, and he is in what Jessica and Sophia would call a "sticky wicket." The Genii have laid a trap and the tables get turned in an interesting way. It's entertaining and well played. The audiobook includes an interview with the actor who played Zelenka that is itself entertaining. Good luck finding a copy of this little gem. If you do, you'll enjoy it.

Story wise this was pretty lame and since this is at its root a short story I don't know how I can rate it any higher than a 1 star. The other Dr. Z story was much, much better than this one.

A decent adventure with Dr. Zelenka and the Genii. The story was good and I liked the little details that went into the characters. Just a nice scientist and soldier dynamic.

I wish there were more of these with David Nykl and that there had been more Zelenka in Atlantis.

David Nykl is amazing. He not only saved a mediocre script - he also made it exceptional.

"Stargate Atlantis: Meltdown" by David McIntee read by David Nykl was a fascinating audiobook that followed Dr. Radek Zelenka from the television series. While he's not explored too much in the tv show, this book alone has turned me into a fan. It was unexpectedly humorous despite having me on the edge of my seat, which really got me immersed in it.
Granted that this is another one of those “if you haven't seen the show, I wouldn't recommend it” type of books, it was a great accompaniment for any fan of the series. I found that it gave information that added to the situation in the show, but having not known it previously didn't detract from the show either. It also gave background to Dr. Zelenka, allowing you to understand the character he is in the show much better.
I give "Meltdown" a solid 4/5 stars, with all the same warnings and notes as I gave for "Impressions".

A very good story about Radek Zelenka joining a mission to a nuclear plant on a foreign planet. The twist at the end was rather surprising, though very in-character for the enemy. And I actually teared up. Also, I love it when David Nykl speaks Czech on SGA!

The interview at the very end is with Aiden J. David who voiced Argan Loci. But it's a phone interview so it's a bit hard to understand.
