Much like the first volume, this volume deals with the effects of European treaties on the British Colonies, taxation, assemblies and legislative councils, and the relationship between the mother country (England) and the freedom-loving colonists. It also addressed the attempt to populate the colony and with that colonization, the problem of having different religions and the right to practice them. A very good historical novel about Nova Scotia and the surrounding provinces. At the end of the volume, there is an appendix filled with letters from influential people and laws in place at the time. I learned a lot about Nova Scotia during this period as well as what was happening in Quebec, the United States, and England. There is even a section about how the different religions came about and who was responsible for this religious freedom. It's written in stilted English, so it's a bit difficult to read, but it contains so much information.
