HIS PROMISE
Ready or not, the Honorable Maxwell Darby and his younger brother Tristram must brave the glittering world of London Society to hunt for heiresses, lovely or not. Scurrilous rumors abound: can it be true that their father, Lord Tavistoke, lost the family fortune in a card game? And is the Marquis of Cravenwell, a notorious gambler, behind the artful scheme to marry off Tavistoke's sons to the highest bidders? But Maxwell will have none of it, for his heart has been stolen by a certain young lady who is as spirited--and as penniless--as he: Kate O'Connor, the beautiful, red-haired daughter of an Irish horse trainer.

HER VOW
But Kate won't even kiss him--she knows only too well that Maxwell Darby must and will marry for money. His ardent attentions are nothing more than a passing fancy, but she sees no reason to deny herself the innocent pleasure of his company. Her reputation? Well, that is no one's concern but her own...until the handsome young nobleman makes a startling confession. And Kate discovers that her most cherished dreams may be about to come true...

All main characters seem to be teenagers with crappy parents--nothing fun about that to me

What a great finish to the first book To Marry an Heiress. This time around the two younger sons are sent back to London to succeed in finding wealthy wives. Monty had married Clarissa but she did not have money. Maxwell & Tristram are sent back. Tristram starts out by bringing his book to get published and he continues his writing. The first day in London while in the park Tris sees a beautiful blonde go by. He quickly draws her image in his notebook.

Maxwell finds his favorite horse has been lost in a race. He had rode Thunderlight in their previous visit and won every race he was in. He knows he was lost to some irishmen and he seen a girl race past him in the park but could not find either.

Kate O'Connor is told she can not race through the park anymore. She is there for the season but she'd rather be back in Ireland with horses. While in the garden at midnight a man talks to her from the other side of the wall. A few nights later he does so again. She does not realize it was two different men.

Finally at her aunts ball she sees the men but when she finds out they are there to marry for wealth and that Max has his sights on a young blonde Kate don't introduce herself.

Between a growing attraction for Kate and Max not knowing his brother has designs for Phillipa and also finding out that Kate's dad is the owner of the horse it makes a great tale and last minute corrections to make a happy ever after.
