Sid grew up in a family of seven in the small town of Bowling Green, Virginia. Sid says that when he was young he “had more energy than brains.” And further states that he “[wishes] it was still that way.”
Sid discovered his passion for novels in his teenage years and decided right then and there to become a fiction writer. He says that he is grateful now that he didn't know how much work was involved in being a writer then.
After high school he traveled for several years through more than twenty countries. Upon returning to the U.S., he worked at several jobs, including farming, bartending, and construction, before his first novel was published. He feels that writing for a living is a privilege.
Sid was named a Publisher's Weekly “Flying Start” for his first novel, Dither Farm. He currently lives in upstate New York.
Sid is a decent amateur juggler.

The only word that I can describe the novel by sid hite is "heartwarming"
The style and the narration of the writer, the Fascinating events, he described the characters very pleasantly
An interesting, exhilarating and wonderful adventure
And one of the funniest, most cheerful
That Will cause readers to ponder the essence of miracles...
A stunning first novel... that will charm young and old alike
Two years after the tumultuous summer that introduced the Dither family to their great-aunt Emma and plunged them into an adventure the likes of which they'd never imagined, the Dithers family with enough personality to start a carnival act-are back. And in finely orchestrated concert with the other characters of Willow County, they face the eternal in the everyday and have lives that are hilarious and serious all at the same time. A rich mix of humor, realism, miracles, and mayhem, Those Darn Dithers asks the question: Is it the ordinary that's marvelous or is it the marvelous that's ordinary? In bucolic Willow County, it's hard to tell the difference.

February 23, 2025What a darling treat, I loved this. Smart, thoughtful kids and offbeat adults, quirky pets and clever humor. I also always appreciate a story that’s told in a way where the time and place could really be anytime and anywhere, with only a few clues about location and pop culture, helping the reader appreciate the most simple yet powerful standards of human connection. The Dithers and their friends have all my love. 🥰
