His mind preoccupied with the threat of cattle theft, Justin Harte was in no position to fall in love. But when his eye caught sight of the beautiful, forceful, and unbelievably skilled Anne McAuliffe, who can shoot a gun better than many men he knows, his heart began to beat so loudly that his mind could not talk any sense into him. Going beyond playing hard-to-get, Anne makes it clear that she is not interested in the strapping and debonair Justin. But can Anne control her heart as easily as she thinks or will she drop her gun and be swept into Justin's waiting arms?
This book could have been something...and then the hero knocked up his wife. If you are a cheater, if this is an 'other woman romance' and 'my wife is an evil monster' kind of book ,at least be nice enough to not give me the urge to kill you.
This is a western romance which is sort of unusual for me to read but I really did like the setting. All I will say is that romance starts of very quickly and then it crashes very badly. Heroine falls down badly and it is only due to few miraculous circumstances that is she somewhat restored. Then there are plot twists which take long time to resolve. What upset me the most though was the “happily ever after” was written on a last page. Till the last minute our poor heroine thought it will never work out.
With that said, there is a lot of good in Chadwick’s writing. There are some really hot scenes, interesting characters and unusual story line. I appreciate that very much.
I read this book via Overdrive and the formatting was very strange. Imagine reading a book without quotation marks or apostrophes.
This is one of my all time favorite romance novels. I have read this book at least ten times and I will probably read it 10 more. I love how Anne is the rock solid heroine no matter what life throws at her.
I am glad that I finished the story because I wasn't too sure I could finish it being so full of gramatical errors. WhoeverI proofed it should be fired. I'll work with the author to insure it's grammatically correct if needed. Getting into the story, with the exception to grammar, was quite enjoyable.
Very good. I liked the part where Justin's cattle manager was trying to talk to the widow woman he had seen and nearly got his head bitten off for his trouble.
Why did I even read this, lol. DNF 50 pages from the end because I remembered that I'm mortal and my time here is finite. I was actively rooting for the MMC to be killed the entire time.
