Tinker is the 6th book in The Happily Never After Series by H.P Mallory, but I hate to say, it is by far my least favorite for many many reasons. I had such high hopes for Tinker, as Peter Pan is one of my favorite fairytales.
I am not sure why exactly this book is so much different than the rest of the other five, but it is DRASTICALLY different. There are so many plot holes it is unreal, Tinker's character is very hard for me to like, there are a few characters that I feel are very useless & then her connection with Peter and Quinn honestly isn't anything but a hero fascination/fan girl, that she has for them & then purely sexual on Peter's end, there is almost zero chemistry between them.
She is extremely whiny, and seems naive - but yet... she is 60+ years old. It doesn't make sense. She has only been locked away on Death Isle for 15 years - she would NOT be as naive as she is portrayed. She also is the only Chosen, I would most definitely say is actually very selfish. Lastly, I am confused on what exactly Tinker's powers are, besides she is a Seelie Fae. But, even with her powers, she seems very..... not helpful. While all of the females were very new to their powers and fighting, I expected Tink to at least have somewhat of a grip on hers considering, again, she is 60+ years old, she is not new to her magic, she is just new to controlling the Morningstar part of it, and forgiving herself. -- but when it came time to it, all of the other Chosen kicked butt and held their own. They wiped the floor with whoever they were battling, and they worked as a team with their men or whoever else was with them, but they always held their own. Tinker on the other hand.... does not seem to handle her own. Hook, Quinn and Peter are the only reason the book ended the way it did, she honestly... did next to nothing to defeat her uncle and Agatha beside throw gum and birds at him.
The fact that Prince Payne is in this book is honestly a complete waste of space, there is ZERO reason he needed to be in this book at all. Every single time he is mentioned, it is ONLY to say how useless he is because he is below deck asleep due to him being a vampire & cannot be in the sun - which... is odd, considering that information is never mentioned in Briar- they seemed to travel at all hours in her book.
Every other Chosen has been with 3 men, so why was Zegar just thrown to the side like trash? It was almost the INSTANT she met Peter and Quinn, she tossed him, as if she could care less that he had taken care of her the past several years. Even if they did not end in a romantic relationship, the way Tinker treated him is horrible.
The "Bond" that Tinker completes with Peter and Quinn, to make them stronger and to share their power, makes zero sense... because Peter and Quinn have NO POWER to share in the first place. In all honesty, it makes her seem weaker, and makes Peter & semi Quinn look power hungry. Tinker had no need to share her power with them, there was no benefit to her in this bond or sharing her power.
Peter's character is down right almost intolerable. I get he is meant to come off as the cocky over the top fun guy, but instead he comes off as a selfish prick who just wants to have sex with Tinker and use her for her pixie dust & power, then also add the "I am alpha" energy as well. He is annoying and not only does he not deserve Tinker, but also doesnt deserve Quinn.
Another part that severely confused me was, the whole virus/hellhound situation. Considering that from the very first book, Morningstars General Ly made it known that he created-birthed the hellhound from himself, because a God cursed him after he fed his son to them. He was the first.
So, it is a little confusing now that hellhounds are being made from a virus created by a physician in Sweetland under the order of Agatha and Septimus.

Overall, Tinker was not horrible, and I know I focused alot of what I didnt like, but there were decent parts as well. I will still definitely continue the series as the overall plot of Tinker was still great, and I hope in the future books, maybe Tinker grows into a better character.
**Added after reading the books after this one**
Truthfully, I feel like maybe the author just rushed through this book, because it is so unlike all of the others. This is the ONLY book in the series that is like this. Every other book is absolutely wonderful.
