Resist is the fabulous first book of a new duet by Michelle Fernandez. Michelle is a new to me author, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but what I got was a gripping storyline with fabulous characters, tons of twists and turns, and a cliffhanger that is killing me, lol. It is well written and paces well, and held my interest to the end. The chemistry between the two of them is fantastic and I'm completely invested in these two characters and can't wait to see how it all plays out. Definitely recommend!

Resist by Michelle Fernandez is part one of The Restore Duet. It is also the beginning of The Broken and Beautiful series. This is a thrilling suspense romance about Rochelle aka “Rocky” and Dean Kraygen aka “The Beast”. It my first book by this author, I found it intriguing and really liked trying to work out all the twists and turns while enjoying this couple unexpectedly find love.
“Forever a fighter”
Rochelle is a field agent for her family’s business KSIG. She is an ex-marine who has worked for the CIA and is also kick-boxer and self defence trainer. She is furious when her brother gives her a new assignment which will take her back into a world she has hidden from for over twenty years. Her 8 week task is to protect a boxer under the disguise of being his new PA, while attempting to uncover the person out to ruin him. Dean is a world champion and is in training for his next match. He is currently battling a media storm over his reaction to a reporter’s comments and trying to work out who is sabotaging his gyms and threatening him.
Everything kicks off when the pair meet and her assignment details are changed. She is to pretend she is his girlfriend so the media distracted from investigating further into his life. The lines between reality and pretending get blurred as the attraction grows. He has her so confused and wound up that she can’t believe he has charmed his way through her walls. He can’t get her out of his mind and knows they have an undeniable chemistry. The sparks fly when events escalate and they give into their feelings.

They both have secrets neither wants the other to discover. She has a life he has no clue about and a traumatic past. He was a troubled teenager who had experienced a tragic event. Both have nightmares over these events, blame themselves and have hidden their true identities. The case becomes complicated when links to their past arise and they both find out details about the other. Is it all a coincidence or is there something more sinister behind it all. Who can they trust and can they have a relationship built on lies and secrets?
I liked the young boxer Junior and was intrigued over who could be his crush so hopefully he might get his own book. There are a good variety of secondary characters for the series but I haven’t made up my mind which ones I trust or not. The banter is great and these two are actually really good for each other. This does end in a cliffhanger which will leave you with many questions and suspects. I loved the tender moments between Rocky and Dean when they forgot about their troubles and let go. Can’t wait to see what happens next and find out the truth.

This is the first book by Michelle that I have read. Both Rochelle and Dean have secrets they want to stay a secret. They may be connected in a way neither knows about. Rochelle is hired to be Dean’s assistant while working undercover to figure out who is targeting him. Only things are switched up when she arrives and instead is his fake girlfriend. The two have an instant connection neither was prepared for. Rochelle must weigh what she feels for Dean against her job and the way he acts sometimes. Dean never though he would feel this way about a woman. He wants to know everything about Rochelle but she remains a mystery. Dean has a hard time letting go of the persona he has created for the fans. Their pasts may cross sooner than either could have imagined. I loved both Dean and Rochelle and I am pulling for them. They are perfect for each other. This book does end of a cliffhanger. If that bothers you than you may want to wait till the second book comes out to read them together. Wonderful job Michelle. This book has secrets, twists, turns, romance, and more. I couldn’t put it down once I started. I can’t wait for the next book.

Get ready to fall in love with Dean and Rochelle's story. Dean has been preparing for a fight. But it's kind of hard to do when someone keeps threatening you and you're not completely focused like you should be. Rochelle has been hired to find out who's behind the threats towards Dean. But Dean doesn't know that little bit of information. He thinks she has been hired to play his girlfriend so it will help his image. Spending time together, Dean and Rochelle soon end up falling for each other. There is some shocking moments, surprises, chemistry, and angst. Resist is a really good story, but it ends on a cliffhanger. I'm excited to see what happens next.

I loved Dean and Rochelle’s story. It’s emotional, amazing banter, sexy and steamy. Someone is out to ruin Dean’s upcoming fight by targeting something personal to him. Rochelle is brought into the mix to help figure out who is out to get him, but not under the pretense she thought. They’re going to be working closely together and that doesn’t sit well with her. Dean’s past is buried deep, but he’s still haunted by his actions when he was younger, and Rochelle has her own demons and keeps their secrets close to their chest. These two are more alike than they know and the more time together brings them closer and feelings creep in and when something or someone puts Rochelle in danger Dean will do anything to get her back. Amazing read a definite must read for 2023.

4 1/2 Star Read. Rochelle is sent by her company (KSIG) to keep an eye on Middle Weight Champion Dean Kraygen and find out who's been stalking him. When she turns up for the assignment she is annoyed when there is another part to the assignment they had omitted to tell her. She decided to take it since there was an extra bonus. Both have secrets in their past that come back to haunt them. Lots of twists and turns you don't see coming. I cant tell you too much more or it will spoil the story for you.
I received an arc for my voluntary honest review for NNBB. I f you love a book with some twists and turns, mystery and intrigue with some hotness thrown in. Be warned this does end in a cliff hanger. I cant wait for book two to see what happens next in Dean and Rochelle's story.

Rochelle's new assignment dredges up old memories. She wants to hate Dean, but he is not what the media makes him out to be. Crossing lines, pulling back, and giving in lead to an impossible situation. Looking forward to the rest of this sexy and suspenseful story.

Lately, the only thing that can make sense is reading.
Life is getting hard sometimes and reading has been, and will always be my escape from all.
I don't know if you feel the same way about it, but it's the only thing that can take the edge off.
And to top it all, I was embarking on a new author's work, and boy oh boy, was I a bit nervous.
Michelle Fernandez is a new author to me and the blurb from this book caught my attention.
Her writing is raw and intense, sweet, and with a touch of danger into the mix.

She has many hidden secrets and does not revel in being his pretend girlfriend and in the spotlight as she has stayed hidden in the shadows for many years.
Dean finds Rochelle alluring and soon finds himself under her spell.
They both have secrets hidden in their past that they are unwilling to reveal.
Loved the angst, the secrets that they hide from each other, whilst both running from their pasts.

A lot is going on in this book. The two characters, Dean and Rochelle, are connected by their pasts, even though they don't know it at first. Their spirits know, and they connect intensely. She is supposed to discover who vandalized his gyms, but they fall into bed and love instead. We see many things that the characters don't know about each other and watch them skirting around their pasts. Neither has told the truth yet when we come to a surprising cliffhanger! We need the next book now! But we have to wait a few more weeks to see what happens. We know that Rochelle can protect herself if she isn't drugged. There are two instances of drugging so far--a tell for the villain?.

There's so much going for this story! Rochelle is a hard ass FMC, and she anchors the story with smarts and sass. Dean, her "assignment", is the Middleweight Champion of the World who is being threatened in the run up to an important fight. Rochelle is hired as his 'fake GF' to figure out who is targeting him. Of course, they didn't count on the sparks flying between these two and soon, the outside distraction isn't the only thing playng on Dean's mind. And oo-wee is there chemistry between these two.
The questions never stop - who to trust, whether to trust each other, whether to trust hearts and lives...so many questions!
And can I just say - really, really hope Junior gets his own book.

This is my first book by this author. I loved Rochelle and Dean they are supposed to be a fake couple.
Rochelle wants out of the job and this contract will give her the money she needs to open her own gym for women.
Rochelle assignment is to be a PA for boxer Dean Kraygen as a request from Knox. When she gets to the job she find out she will instead be his girlfriend.

What an intriguing suspenseful book! Dean is preparing for a fight and has been distracted with threats against him. Enter Rochelle, Dean thinks she has been hired to help his image by pretending to be his girlfriend. She is actually been hired to find the person who has been threatening Dean. As his training continues, the two of them become closer and that brings its own set of problems. An unexpected event happens that throws everyone for a loop. There is a cliffhanger in this book. I am anxiously awaiting the conclusion of their journey.

Resist by Michelle Fernandez was an intriguing and book! This is a story about Dean and Rochelle. Dean’s a fighter who is preparing for a fight but has been distracted because he’s been dealing with threats against him. Rochelle has been hired to gather evidence about who is threatening Dean but due to a misunderstanding Dean thinks she has been hired to help his image by pretending to be his girlfriend. They began a journey of intrigue, suspense and romance. My one issue with this book was that it ended in a cliffhanger! I’m looking forward to reading the conclusion of Dean and Rochelle’s journey.

This is the first in a duet, and this is Dean and Rochelle’s journey. Dean is a cocky middleweight champion, and Rochelle is sassy and tough, and she has been hired to find out who is vandalizing his gyms. These two are both broken by their past traumas. This story ends in a cliffhanger, and I cannot wait to read the conclusion! This is a well written story which is an emotional roller coaster, which is action packed, with mystery, danger, suspense, intrigue, twists, secrets, romance, and is a steamy and unpredictable page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

More than expected
I really did enjoy this book overall, even though I’m not a cliffhanger ending fan. (To be fair it I clearly tasted as Book 1.) Dean and Rochelle are an interesting couple of characters with a LOT of baggage and secrets. I like their interplay and banter with each other. It’s amusing and of course quite steamy at times. There were moments that left me with a lot of questions beyond those secrets though….like what happens with Rochelle’s goddaughter. It needed more details in that part to make sense or at least elude to some suspicions. I am, however, looking forward to jumping into the second book in this series.

Michelle Fernandez writes the best books! Resist is fantastic! At the end I was saying no, no I need more. In the beginning I was not liking Dean too much. He was full of himself and cocky. Rochelle was sassy and tough. They are both broken from their childhood traumas and are discovering their pieces might fit together. There are emotional scenes where you just want to reach out and hug the characters. There is mystery, suspense, steam, wit and intrigue with secrets on both sides.. And what a cliffhanger! I'm so looking forward to part 2 of this duet. I highly recommend this story!

This is a well written book with strong characters in Rochelle and Dean. The author does a great job pulling you in and kept me glued to the pages with all of the intrigue, mystery and suspense as well as all of the twists and turns along the way. She brings an emotional story with descriptive scenes and left me with wanting more with the cliffhanger ending. I'm looking forward to part two. Loved and recommend this book.

I was hooked on the storyline but I was not able to get into the story. It took me a while to get into the story. I expected the cliffhanger to make me want to read the next book but I'm okay. The breadcrumbs were laid about their pasts and their connections to one another, the steamy moments all the while keeping up appearances while on the job.

I was hooked on the storyline but I was not able to get into the story. It took me a while to get into the story. I expected the cliffhanger to make me want to read the next book but I'm okay. The breadcrumbs were laid about their pasts and their connections to one another, the steamy moments all the while keeping up appearances while on the job.

Absolutely captivating page turner, I couldn't put it down and can't wait to see what happens next!!! Dean is an arrogant middleweight champion who finds himself with a new PA Rochelle. She's strong, sassy and intelligent, but she's also an undercover agent trying to figure out who's causing issues at Dean's gyms. Both have tough traumas they're trying to overcome from their pasts. Will the underlying chemistry between them develop into more? Enjoy this rollercoaster ride!.

This book was very unique for me as I don't see a woman being a bodyguard of a man very often so it was a breath of fresh air.
Roch is a Ex-marine who is forced to become dean bodyguard and now she has to protect him and her heart at all costs.
This book pace, plot and over all structure was great and the writing pulled me in. Loved the little unique elements which were put further into the book
The tension and chemistry between Roch and dean was fabulous also.

This is a fantastic book! The plot twists, the characters, seeing how everything plays out. I could not put the book down and it’s is not a short story. The writing is excellent. There’s a lot happening in this story. There is also many steamy scenes so it’s not all suspense.

OOOOOOH…MY…GOSH. What a tangled web we weave. Grab this suspenseful, walls up, who do you trust romance with many twists and turns, lies and deceit and when the unthinkable happens where do you turn. I cannot wait for the next book!!!!

Wow!! I honestly couldn’t resist this book! It definitely kept me hooked with the undeniable chemistry between Rochelle and Dean who both have secrets. There is so much passion and the cliff hanger ending has me wishing that it was May already so I can see where this story goes.- Elizabeth

Oh my god. This was so good, I'm honestly shocked! I did not expect to like this as much as I did, and this far exceeded any of my expectations.
What a spectacular book, seriously not only was the story itself amazing, but the writing flowed so naturally! I was addicted to this story, I could not stop reading it. I loved everything about this....the characters, the slow burn done oh so perfectly.
