I listened to this book as an audio. I enjoyed the author narrating his book. I felt, in narrating his work, he emphasized particular words; which made more clear the chapters that dealt with some of Newman’s philosophical ideas. I appreciated the short intro to Newman’s ideas and the author’s explanations. The short synopsis on St. Philip Neri was also meaningful and I enjoyed having it woven into the biography. A nice intro to Newman’s life and some of his ideas; easy to listen to, without getting overwhelmed by Newman’s incredible philosophical and spiritual intellect.
“One can be certain of what they believe, even when it is difficult to prove and even more difficult to explain” I’m not sure if this was a quote by John Henry Newman or something the author said but I absolutely love it
