Not to be mistaken for one of these pointless hypothetical either/ors – would you rather bathe in snot for charity or have a million pounds a year for life, that kind of thing – this is actually a great way to leach some geology and geography into us by using opposites and selections of one from two things. So here's the world's hottest and coldest places, and the question is which we'd prefer to visit. This might be our first image and factoid about the Great Wall of China and/or Hadrian's Wall, and we're supposed to guess which we'd like to walk along. It allows itself to get close to the more typical format of these books in discussing edible guinea pigs and kangaroos in our diet, but generally contains nothing to upset even the sniffiest of teachers. It never resorts to the original meaning of trivia, but delivers a whopping load of tiny factoids about the world's musical instruments, bridges, flags, sports and more. And talking of Pointless, surely nobody will grow to be a question setter on that show without a grounding from the likes of this first?! A strong four stars.
