Hey, I’m Amy, I write books for folks who crave laugh-out-loud paranormal mysteries. I help bring humor into readers’ lives. I’ve got a Pharm D in pharmacy, a BA in Creative Writing and a Masters in Life. And when I’m not writing or chasing around two small children (one of which is four going on thirteen), I can be found antique shopping for a great deal, getting my roots touched up (because that’s an every four week job) and figuring out when I can get back to Disney World. If you’re dying to know more about my wacky life, here are three things you don’t know about me. —In college I spent a semester at Marvel Comics working in the X-Men office. —I worked at Carnegie Hall. —I grew up in a barbecue restaurant—literally. My parents owned one. If you want to reach out to me—and I love to hear from readers—you can email me at amyboylesauthor@gmail.com. Happy reading!
It was wonderful to take a couple of days to read the ten books that led me to a wonderful Witches town in the South. I really enjoyed becoming familiar with the family and all the familiars, even a baby dragon. So many problems, solutions, murders and wild magic. Just be sure that your work is all done because ya'll are Not going to want to stop and put these books down!
I Love this series!!! The characters are fun & the storylines are full of mischief & murder. It's centers around a small magical town of Magnolia Cove & a family of witches who find themselves in the middle of all the mayhem this town has to offer. It's funny & will keep you entertained. I can't wait to see where Pepper & the gang takes us next.
I wanted to like this series, I really did. I read a lot of witch series, specifically "Witch is When..." which is about a woman who finds out she's a witch later in life and is also a PI. And you should hands down read that series over this one.
The one and only thing this series does well is the actual mystery storyline. The rest is just not good. And honestly makes very little sense.
There's no character development even for the main protagonist and her boyfriend. There's no true connection between them, and there's so much back and forth from "I love you" to "don't trust me" and even at one point where the boyfriend flat out leaves and when he returns, we're meant to just forgive him. I'm not sure this author has been left before. But when they return, even when you're utterly head over heels in love, there's no forgive and forget. And in this story, he left her and she went thru some pretty traumatic events while sad and heartbroken.
That's just one small character development that doesn't exist. There's so much to be desired. Even the name that they give themselves "The Sweet Tea Witches" is basically out of nowhere. They drink some sweet tea and then suddenly that's what the are. And it'll just come up randomly. You as the reader have no connection to it.
The dialogue also is just kind of basic, which ties into the lack of character development (I read all 10 books in the boxed set, I had no emotional ties to anyone in the book and in fact was over everybody) it allowed the characters to act and say some pretty ridiculous things. Cordelia can be needlessly mean and Amelia stupid. But that's not set up well at all, you're meant to believe they have a love hate relationship but it has to be pointed out by the main character for you to understand. The boyfriend is supposed to be brooding and mysterious but he's just sort of whiny at times and then stupidly vague at others. He hitches and quirks his eyebrows and mouth often enough for you to want to smack the smirk off of his face. And the author is ridiculously vague at the spice they feel when she wants to introduce but also wants you to know they're not there yet. You're just left wondering "are they? Aren't they?" And had you just left it out, it wouldn't have been missed. There's no spark bc she didn't develop the characters.
I read all 10 so you don't have to. I won't read anymore. I wanted so badly to like a cute easy witch series. But it left so much to be desired. Id encourage you to try another before you dive into this one.
Easy read, but obvious plot lines. Don’t know the author’s origins, but it reads as if written by someone from New England, writing the way she thinks a southern woman would talk. Ten books where all the main romantic characters kiss deeply but never get it on gets old very quickly.
Wonderful books that intertwine fantasy and murder mysteries.

Fun cozy murder mystery book set. Recommended reading!
Only Boyle could write such light hearted funny stories about murder and tossing in some dark magic for extra spice! Books 1 to 10 each had a unique storyline, but all carried the personalities of the characters consistently as they developed. I nearly always guessed whodunit fairly quickly through Boyle's foreshadowing clues. Even then, the books were worth reading the entirety. A little fine tuning with editing would've increased my 4 star rating to 5 stars. There are a few minor inconsistencies in the action. An example in #10 without giving away any plot: An item that was magically forbidden to be removed from its witch's room was casually tucked into a pocket to be carried away to the police as evidence.
Greatly entertaining reading to fly you away from the mundane reality (on your magic skillet) of life and tuck you into the cozy creation of Magnolia Cove. Enjoy.
This set of Witch & Wizard Mysteries is remarkable. The principal character, Pepper Dunn, was raised without knowledge of the magical setting in Magnolia Cove. A portion of each title moves her experience along. Another part is devoted to building family, enemy, and romantic relationships. The rest is focused on solving a murder mystery. Some stories end in cliffhangers, others do not. Overall, this set provides hours of fascinating entertainment.
Liked the characters, in general. Disliked the riding skillets (a bit too cliche) and the overuse of “y’all.” Writing was good, storylines were well done, if a bit thin. Editing was better than average, but “pouring” and “poring” are not the same and the misuse of one for the other made my teeth hurt a couple of times. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys cozy paranormal mysteries that aren’t too demanding. Gave it four stars due to the aforementioned Southern cliches and a general lack of depth. Not that depth is something you often find in cozies but, if I’m going to give a five, I want more than I got in this series.
I just finished reading the first book in the Sweet Tea Witch series. Initially I was turned off by the author's attempt to write in a southern dialect. In my opinion it was cheesy at best. However by chapter 5 use of dialect and southerners were more of a sprinkle than a drench. In sprinkled form they enhanced the generally good storytelling.
If you are acquiring this book for the mystery element you will be very disappointed. This book is more about the delightfully fun journey. I added the 10 book set to my library from Kindle unlimited. I am hopeful the second book of the set is as good or better than the first. I will keep you all posted.
Tasteful, great read for anyone age 13 or older, cozy mysteries
Pepper didn't know she was a witch. Through many changes in her life which happened quickly, she lost everything & had to leave that old life behind. She meets a cat that leads her into a new life & brings her to meet her mom's family. What follows is fun, exciting, & all kinds of mystery solving - along with a new job matching witches with their familiars - animals. Enjoy! I adored the characters, southern drawls, & trouble the characters got themselves into.
They are hardly books at all. They are more like short stories and I was very disappointed with the lack of follow through not to mention the lack luster ending of the tenth so called book. If I could get a refund I would. I don't like when I'm misled for my money. The author was very dishonest with the loosey goosey terminology used to claim these as individual books when really all together they aren't even a full book worth of material. My honest opinion is don't waste your money or time.
This is a delightfully hilarious paranormal mystery series that gets better as it goes. The characters are fun and their powers are diverse, adding levels of intrigue to the plots. Each book is a very quick read, and they could easily be read out of order without too much trouble. There are lots of "southernisms" thrown in everywhere, which makes the writing charming. The first book was not my favorite, but I'm very glad I kept going because the writing and the story-building improves so much. I love any time spent with these Sweet Tea Witches.
Starts with a guy wanting her (dead)out of the picture! Then a talking cat shows up and tells her to head for a small town in Alabama! Scary guy follows but gets Shoved to the side as she finds out she has a family who are witches, and she's one too! All 10 books are her adventures of dealing with her powers and strange murders that happen all around her! Each story continues into the next and makes it hard to put down! Very good story and idea!!
I liked the story and read it through, but I have some feedback.
1. There were holes in the plot that were obvious. - one example of many: In one story, Betty's magic broke so the heart fire needed a new conduit temporarily. Then in the next story, Betty is turned into a toad and stays that way for the majority of the story, but that didn't affect the heart fire at all.
The stories were fairly predictable. I was hoping for a little more mystery than I found. However the fantasy world Amy Boyles built is very cute and the characters are enjoyable. I disliked all of Pepper’s comments about food and weight gain. It happens a lot and seems to be a main character trait and insecurity of hers. If you have a history of any kind of ED then this could be triggering and these books may not be for you.
I don't usually do reviews as most are just a synopsis of the story. I read murder mysteries and when they get too heavy for me, I look for some light reading. This series was easy to read but kind of a junior high level book. The great thing is the author managed to make the stories compelling enough for me to complete all ten books. I continued to read to find out what happened next. If Ms Boyles were to write an adult mystery/fantasy, I believe she would do very well!
What a fun read! You do have to bring your imagination, but what a fun read. The characters are so entertaining. You can definitely relate each one to someone you know, only they're in "witch/wizard" form. It is an investment to read 1950 pages, but I enjoyed each of the ten books and would recommend reading them as a set versus one now, one later, kind of thing. I will be reading more of Any Boyles' works. Great job, Ms. Boyles!
An amazing set of books. I just completed the set of ten books and each one was better than the one I just finished. Lots of magic, mystery and especially Love. Perfect set of books for Valentine. Goes through several holidays from when I began reading them and finished number ten on Valentine’s Day. They are a must read.
This series is so southern that I laughed all through it. What a great read. Witches, a dragon and a host of familiar animals. Loved the whole family dynamics, what a family! Plenty of suspense, mystery and sexual tension. Will definitely recommend this book and author. Ready for the next collection in this series. Enjoy!
I highly recommend these books! If you're into cozy , clean, witchy murder mysteries these are the books for you! I really enjoyed the author' s southern humor and explanations she gave. They're fun and action packed. Full fun characters and lots of love. Southern hospitality at it's finest. Love, love, love!
Great books. I was enthralled from beginning to end. I had to continue til I was done. The adventures are amazing. Pepper was thrown in a world that's hard to believe and accepted it. She met a family she never knew about. Found true love and true friendship. I highly recommend and can't wait to read the adventures in the next book.
A real treat. Could use a bit of editing but other than that I really enjoyed it. It was a real clean read. No foul language or sex but just an enjoyable series of stories. Loved Betty, the Granny, what a character. Witches, Wizards, Werewolves, and others added into the mix. Nice.
After being fired due to false information, and being locked out of her apartment, she finds a key in a letter she received that morning. The key leads her to a town of witches which she didn't know existed. Now she must learn to use her fledgling skills to run the local familiar store, and help the town when needed. Good Read, fun stories.
This series draws you in with wonderful characters and roller coaster stories. If you like magic and mystery these are the books for you. In a town of witches the antics never end. Pepper and Axel face challenges in their growing relationship that would make many a faint heart run for the hills. But buckle up and enjoy their antics.
I lived in South Carolina and these books brought back memories.Sweet Tea was always served with every meal. The sweet tea witches solved many crimes and were humerous doing it! I recommend this series of books to all who like to lose themselves in books. You don’t know the answers til the end,but will have a great time reading!
Nice easy read with some enjoyable sleuthing twists.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my first visit to the cosy witch genre of writing. While normally a fan of SciFi and crime fiction, I am glad I have taken this slight detour into this area. Well done Ms Boyles, I am looking forward in anticipation to read the next 10 story compilation.
At first, I wasn’t certain I was going to like the main character due to some of what I would call character flaws. However, as the series progressed the books got more and more interesting and it became hard to put them down. I truly enjoyed this series and works love to read more.
Love, murder, mayhem. What's not to love. Who done it mixed in with family & good food. Witches, wizards & familiars. This is a good engaging read. I gobbled it up in short order. Highly recommended for those who love murder mysteries. I dare you to figure out who the murderer is before the reveal.
