Miki, Valencia, Teela Raye, and Brandi share one thing...they are all addicted to sex. United through Sexaholics Anonymous, these women try to recover from their dependence on wild, spontaneous, and even sometimes, dangerous sex. From whips and chains, to sex in public, they have done it all! Led by Dr. Rachel Cummings, each woman takes the first step to recovery by sharing her biggest sexual act with the group. Sexaholics takes readers through the outrageous experiences of four women on their long path to success.
When I started this book I didn't know what to expect. I've read some pretty steamy romance, but never erotica. So I figured that the book would be one steamy scene after another, given my past experiences with steamy romance novels. While there were some pretty intense scenes there was so much more to this book.
With everything in the news about Tiger Woods, Jesse James, and their mistresses I think people don't fully understand what a sex addiction is. We see it on the news but it's still limited information. That and when we hear about someone who is a sex addict they are almost always men. This book takes us into the minds of 4 sex addicts who just happen to be women. I think the story could have been just as good if the characters were men but think I related more to them because they were women. It made me feel a connection with them.
Like I said earlier, there were some pretty steamy scenes. But I thought they were written tastefully. To me it wasn't just a sex scene there was so much more going on deeper in the story with every interaction. The characters were so well developed. While I don't suffer from a sex addiction I was actually able to connect with the characters and understand why they were doing the things they did.
The story was great. As each of the 4 stories progresses to the end there were a few twists thrown in that I never expected. I won't give any details away, but let’s just say that everyone who's done what she did deserves that kind of punishment. I think it would put an end to those kinds of problems if people knew that's what was coming for them....
I'm glad that I read this book. I think the subject matter is something that needed to be touched on. There are real people who truly suffer from sex addictions. I think it took a brilliant author to write this book, keep it tasteful, and show (what felt to me as authentic) a look at the lives of sex addicts.
Having an overpowered sex drive is the norm for Miki, Valencia, Brandi, and Teela. They can’t stop, won’t stop until they receive that good loving, body rocking, knocking boots sensation. These divas will do anything to get that ultimate sexual experience.
The beautiful women attend Sexaholics Anonymous, where they meet and form a bond of support. They want to be cured but are still conducting their promiscuous activities as usual. Sooner than later, the ladies’ situations spirals out of control and there won’t be no turning back.
“Sexaholics” was sizzling hot! This novel was very sexually explicit, detailed and visual to the tee. Some of the situations had me like wow! There is a message inside of the story. I love the saying “Make your mess your message,” which I’m sure anyone can relate to. Don’t underestimate the writings of Pynk; she is sure to have you wanting to read more.
This was, by far, one of the dirtiest books I have ever read! That's a good thing though when reading erotica. You want details, and the author doesn't disappoint with this flesh feast of a novel. Hardcore action, and sexaholics meetings, make for more hardcore action! The only downfall to this book, was the ending. I didn't care for how the story ended, and wish the author had told a bit more about each character, instead of focusing on one. It was broken down through the whole book, it should have stayed that way on the end. With that said, I would still recommend this to every woman I know.
Four ladies, all addicted to sex...in four different ways. They are all members of Sexaholics Anonymous, a group which meets bi-weekly, to share very interesting stories. Their leader, a reformed sexaholic, helps them on a 12-step program. These women continue to struggle with their addictctions, which can lead to serious repercussions.
I went into this book expecting one thing and received something totally different.
Hmm, commenting on this book is difficult. I perceive myself as open minded as the next person but I didn’t find a whole lot about this book to recommend. It details and I mean details the sex life of four sexaholics. It purports to deal with a serious topic (look at the world famous golfer or southern governor). The brief forward, author’s notes and dictionary seem designed to seduce you into thinking the book is of a research or study type of book. Near as I could see the book was simply erotic writing for eroticism’s sake.
In spite of the fact that this is supposed to be a study of four addictive personalities, I didn’t think the character development was adequate. The focus was on sexual exploits. Frankly I didn’t find them steamy as described on the cover. Tedious may best describe how I found the stories. Norah Roberts or Sandra Brown write far sexier or titillating prose. I am sure that someone will find this book exciting and a good read, sadly I didn’t.
Meh. I wasn't overly impressed with the book. It was definitely well written for erotica, but the story itself wasn't all that interesting. I guess that's why it took me a few months to finish it. I'm very grateful for the goodreads giveaway, since I probably never would have heard of this author, but I most likely will not ready anything else by her. The reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1 is because the end kind of redeemed itself. I spent most of the book hating the characters because they were going to the sexaholics meetings to talk about what was "wrong" with them and to work on "fixing" themselves, but either immediately after the meeting or within a few hours/days they were right back to doing what brought them there in the first place. I was kind of annoyed that it took some major events to knock some sense into the characters, but I guess that is life. Overall I wouldn't recommend this book.
Pynk's sophomore novel, Sexaholics, expertly delivers on its title. The novel examines four women from different walks of life who have one thing in common; sexual addiction. Each woman has her own sexual indulgence. And each entices the senses with her wild experiences.
Pynk, once again, delivers a great novel. Although I could not personally relate to the characters, I am sure there are many who can. It is a very timely piece of fiction and in the right hands will help others who suffer from sexual addiction. I love how Pynk weaves education and entertainment without it seeming preachy. Erotica lovers will definitely appreciate such a gratifying read, but be warned-Sexaholics is definitely for the freakiest of freaks. I recommend this novel to erotica lovers who like hard-core, steamy sex scenes and Pynk supporters.

I won this book off goodreads.com first read giveaway. At first I didn't realize it was considered "erotica". I'm not a prude and I really don't have a problem with erotica but this book was very graphic and very repetitive. The story follows four sexaholics as they try to become 'sober'. I disliked the transitions or lack thereof between the characters. I had to constantly turn back a page or two in order to remember who's story I was reading about.
I thought the author brought in too many characters that made things even more confusing. I gave the book two stars because it wasn't a horrible book but it wasn't a good book either. But then again, My normal genre isn't erotica.
Ow ow... This book is not for the faint of heart or for the underage crowd. Sexaholics is an Erotic fiction about 4 women who are addicted to sex.
Miki has multiple men she has 'relations' with (Trying to keep the blog review PG-13ish here.. ha) and doesn't have a problem with juggling her boyfriend, her sugar daddy, a fellow Sexaholic Anonymous addict, her ex-boyfriend and HER BEST-Friend Valencia. Oh and did I mention she had sex with her pregnant sister's husband? Jerry! Jerry! Jerry!
Valencia has a fiance, Greg who she has been together with since college who used to get freaky with her. Now that he wants to settle down and get married he wants to be DONE with the freaky. But on his terms only. It's okay for him to sit at his computer all night looking at certain sites and taking care of business and MAYBE okay for Val to hook up with a female now and the, but another male? No....
Teela has an addiction to watching people. Her man with other women, other strangers, anyone.
Brandi is a school teacher who is also an alcoholic and gets caught doing THE WORST THING EVER. She actually was a character I could NOT relate to and wanted to throttle and hurt. Ugh.
So this is my first EVER Erotica and it was definitely NOT tame at all. There were tons of sex scenes, basically every page. Lots of detail and lots of people having relations with lots of other people. It is not a book for a lot of people. But I would say that it definitely was written to be enjoyed and some of the analogies had me laughing hysterically and telling my husband about them.
I also would say, that I probably would never have bought this book for myself, and I did receive it for free through a goodreads.com giveaway. I liked it more than the smutty romance novels my grandma tried to get me to read all the time. This was more real, more believable and the writing was good. But, it is Erotica.

While this isn't the first Erotica I've read, I haven't read that many. I just never had a chance to until recently. So I can't really say if this has more sex than regular Erotica or not. I don't think this is light Erotica though. There isn't much romance in this book which I know there is in some Erotica. There are some feelings of course but it's not romance. I liked that there wasn't long spaces in between sex scenes.
Sexaholics has a LOT of sex in it, all different kinds, but it does have a storyline too. It isn't till the middle of the book or so that it really comes through but you soon see there is a story and the characters are developed enough that you can kind of see yourself as her. The ending was amazing and there were some shockers including one disturbing scene but I enjoyed the book both as Erotica and as a novel.
The beginning of the book includes an author's note that explains some basics about sex addiction, namely that men are the ones to most commonly be associated with it. Sex addiction is NOT just wanting lots of sex and Pynk did her research so that the book is factual and should be of special interest to those who feel they may be sexaholics. In fact at the end of the book she directs worried readers to the Sexaholics Anonymous website to do a quiz to see if they may have sexaholic traits.
My only problem was I kept mixing up the characters. If you read it within a few days time with no breaks, it's no problem. However if you read for a while, stop for a few days or more and then pick the book back up, it takes some time to remember which person was which.
Got halfway through it and then stopped several days ago. I'm not a frequent reader of smut, so maybe this isn't an accurate review, but I found myself struggling to stay interested in this. Despite my love for poor Teela, I thought the other characters weren't very interesting and the sex scenes started to lose their heat and intensity to me after Act 1. This book has a lot of the hallmarks of typical urban (READ: BLACK PEOPLE) books -- both erotic and non-erotic. Lots of arguing with lovers, moral dilemmas and graphic sex. But Miki and Valencia sounded unrealistic, Brandi was just depressing and like I said before, I had sympathy for Teela... sympathy only gets you so far though in a book like this.
This book was definitely not the book for me. I do have to say that Ms. Pynk is a brave brave women, because this book is raw, gritty, and to me even, sometimes shocking. Ms. Pynk dives head first into sex addiction and it's players. This is definitely an adult only book, filled with explicit scenes that are intense most of the time. I think this author has a very unique writing style and she works it, but I just couldn't love this book. Maybe you will. Have you read it? I would love to know what you think. Won from a first reads giveaway. I have to admit...this is one HOT read! Aside from that, the personal journey that each of these women take is very gripping. The book is written in such a way that you put yourself into their shoes. You feel the same disappointment, shock and ultimatily, regret. It takes such a step to finally admit that there's something wrong, but sometimes you still need that shove to lead you in the right direction.
People should not judge a book by it's cover. This book was so much more than what the title indicates. The ending was jaw dropping and sobering. Sexaholics follows the lives of 4 women who decide to seek the help of a Sexaholics Anonymous group to concur their issues. Since this is erotica, I will caution that when I recommend it to others.
I wanted to give the book a 5, but I was not particularly settled with its ending. Otherwise, I think the book serves a good purpose showing how the decisions we make can lead to some very soul-searching solutions with our lives.
The best smut I've read yet. She really knows how to write sex scenes with lots of details to get you going! And the characters actually have development, a character arc, and resolutions that weren't totally predictable and made sense in terms of the arc. I'll be reading this author again!
Very often, erotica has no real storyline to follow. This one did, however, as we followed characters through a series of encounters. I could have read more about each character, though.
