About the author

Maria was born and raised in the Netherlands, and studied graphic design at George Washington University in DC. Maria's historical graphic novel Song of a Blackbird, about a female artist in the Amsterdam resistance during WWII, was awarded the Michael L. Printz Award Honor and it was longlisted for the National Book Award.

Average story about a bear learning to share. Not bad, just not great. T listened and interested, liked that they all cuddled at end.

A very cute book about sharing. Adorable roly poly polar bear cubs find something red and soft - but only 1 thing! How will they make do? Simple text, but sweet, with a clear message. The voices of the cubs make fun characters.

Harder to use as a storytime book, even with the adorable (and very clear) illustrations. The physical book is on the smaller size, and would be harder to see in an audience. Would make a better one-on-one read.

Could be counted as a Christmas book too - those mysterious tracks!

This is a cute little picture book that is disguisingly about sharing. The white and red illustrations are simple but effective and my two year old daughter really did like this. Sparse text that contribute to the minimal illustrations combine for e nice young child read aloud.

Cute story, but when they first see the red thing in the sky I didn't understand the picture. I must be overanalyzing it. I like the simplicity of it and for the most part readers will be able to see what is going on in the story, but I couldn't get over the picture that has me confused.
