This was a good book, but I can't figure out why the parents didn't know about the Downs Syndrome before the birth?

I really didn't like how Dr. Peter didn't tell Sophie that her little baby sister is not retarded when Sophie was talking to him about how she felt about her sister having down syndrome. The adults didn't seem to explain that Hope will grow up with some challenges yes but she is a unique little girl who is just like everyone else.

I did like how Sophie discovers that Hope is just a unique girl, like everyone else at the end.

I wanted to rate this book 2 stars but added a star because this book can open up conversations about kids who are different, ADHD, down syndrome or anything else and that these things causes the people with them to be different from others and have challenges but in the end they are just like everyone else and need to be treated with respect and love.

Solid Christian message. But there are to many characters and they call get confusing. The emotions while realistic are not dealt with and so there is little progression with the characters. Plot elements are mostly stock.
