This is a fascinating and well-researched family saga that takes readers on a journey with several generations of the Irish-American Mahoneys. The book begins with the first generation of Mahoneys making a living as farmers in Iowa in the 1890s and follows subsequent generations to Chicago where they become unwitting participants in labor disputes and gangster wars. The story is filled with riveting historical detail and highlights the evolution of American society from the early 1900s to the 1930s. This is the perfect book for those who like historical fiction with a healthy dose of family drama!
